Discussion: When a sore erupts at the fingertip causing nail shedding, it is called Daizhi (Subungual Abscess/Whitlow). Since nails are considered the surplus of tendons, when heat in the tendons and bones becomes excessive and flows to the fingertips, the finger first swells, becomes hot and painful, and accumulates pus. In severe cases, the nail falls off. The world sometimes calls this "Zaozhi" or "Lunzhi," also known as "Daijia," but they refer to the same condition. This disease resembles Ziju (Finger Carbuncle), but lacks accumulated toxic pathogens, so the color does not turn dark black. Even if prolonged, it is not fatal.
