It is stated that excessive irregularity in eating and drinking leads to fullness and obstruction in the stomach. Grain qi fails to transform, and deficient heat steams and薰 (vaporizes), resulting in Gu Dan (Grain Jaundice). The manifestations include mental restlessness and oppression in the epigastrium, dizziness, palpitations, irritability and depression, difficult urination, and yellowing of the body resembling the color of an orange peel.
For treating Gu Dan (Grain Jaundice) where dizziness and palpitations occur after eating, accompanied by irritability and restlessness, leading to gradual yellowing of the skin: Yinchen Tang (Inula Decoction).
Yinchen Hao (Artemisiae Scopariae Herba), Chaihu (Bupleuri Radix, stems removed, each 4 liang), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix, black heart removed), Longdan (Gentianae Radix), Zhishi (Aurantii Fructus Immaturus, pith removed, stir-fried with bran, each 2 liang), Zhizi Ren (Gardeniae Semen), Shengma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma).
The above eight ingredients are coarsely crushed and sieved. Take 5 qianbi per dose. Add 1.5 sheng of water, decoct until 1 sheng remains, remove the dregs, and take warm. If the patient is emaciated, remove Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma), add Shengdihuang (Rehmanniae Radix, 5 liang) and Zhizi Ren (Gardeniae Semen, 4 liang).
For treating Gu Dan (Grain Jaundice) with a tight and rapid pulse at the Fuyang position (Duzi artery). A tight pulse indicates excess; a rapid pulse indicates heat. The interaction of tight and rapid pulses causes severe heat in the stomach, vexing pain in the joints, and difficult urination: Shiwei Tang (Periplocae Decoction).
Shiwei (Periplocae Folium, hairs removed), Mutong (Akebiae Caulis), Chaihu (Bupleuri Radix, stems removed), Maogen (Imperatae Rhizoma, each 1.5 liang), Zhizi Ren (Gardeniae Semen), Mangxiao (Natrii Sulfas, each 0.5 liang).
The above six ingredients are cut into pieces the size of hemp seeds. Take 5 qianbi per dose. Add 1.5 sheng of water, decoct until 1 sheng remains, remove the dregs, and take warm. Three times daily.
For treating Gu Dan (Grain Jaundice) where dizziness occurs after meals and mental depression leads to yellowing. This is caused by irregular eating and overeating, leading to rebellious stomach qi attacking upward, resulting in abdominal fullness: Kushen Wan (Sophorae Pill).
Kushen (Sophorae Flavescentis Radix, 1.5 liang), Longdan (Gentianae Radix, 0.5 liang).
The above two ingredients are pounded and sifted into fine powder, mixed with ox bile, and pounded three hundred times. Form pills the size of Sophora seeds. Take 15 pills per dose, morning and evening after meals, washed down with Barley Decoction.
For treating Gu Dan (Grain Jaundice) with dizziness, palpitations, yellowing, and abdominal fullness: Dire Tang (Heat-Purging Decoction).
Yinchen Hao (Artemisiae Scopariae Herba, 3 liang), Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma, cut and stir-fried, 1.5 liang), Shanzhizi Ren (Gardeniae Semen, 3 fen).
The above three ingredients are coarsely crushed and sieved. Take 3 qianbi per dose. Add 1 sheng of water, decoct until 0.7 sheng remains, remove the dregs, and take warm before meals. If urination becomes smooth and the urine resembles the juice of Gleditsia sinensis pods, abdominal fullness will decrease overnight.

Kushen (Sophorae Flavescentis Radix, 1 liang), Shanzhizi Ren (Gardeniae Semen, 0.5 liang), Longdan (Gentianae Radix), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix, black heart removed, each 1 liang).
The above four ingredients are pounded and sifted into fine powder, mixed with pig bile, and pounded five hundred times. Form pills the size of Sophora seeds. Take 20 pills per dose after meals, washed down with rice drink. Three times daily.
For treating Gu Dan (Grain Jaundice) with dizziness and abdominal fullness after meals, as well as Jiu Dan (Wine Jaundice) with a deep and solid pulse: Sha Ruxiang Wan (Sal Ammoniac and Frankincense Pill).

Yujin (Curcumae Radix, 1 liang), Niudan (Ox Bile, one dried piece), Shexiang (Musk, ground, 0.5 qian).
The above three ingredients are pounded and ground into fine powder. Take 0.5 qianbi per dose, mixed with fresh drawn water. Take at any time.
