Discussion states: In Foot-Yangming Stomach Malaria (Stomach-type malaria affecting the Yangming channel), when the pathogen is in the channels, it causes initial chills, with severe shivering and aversion to cold. After a long period, fever ensues; after the fever subsides, sweating occurs. The patient prefers sunlight and fire heat, feeling relieved only then. Treatment should involve needling the acupoints on the dorsum of the foot along the Foot-Yangming channel. If the pathogen is in the stomach organ, the patient feels impending illness, experiences frequent hunger but an inability to eat; upon eating, there is distension and fullness in the hypochondrium and abdomen. Treatment should involve pricking the transverse vessels connecting the Foot-Yangming and Foot-Taiyin channels to induce bleeding. This is because the Stomach is the gathering place of Chong Qi (Penetrating Vessel Qi) and the Sea of Water and Grain. When pathogenic factors invade, the Chong Qi becomes disharmonious, leading to hunger without appetite. Upon eating, distension and abdominal enlargement occur. When the pathogen transmits to the channels, it manifests as alternating cold and heat. Because Yang cannot overcome Yin, the patient desires sunlight and fire heat.
