Discussion states: Yin Jaundice (Yin Huang) is characterized by a yellow complexion. There is headache without fever, and aversion to hearing human voices. This arises from Yang Qi being latent within the Yin aspect, with pathogenic heat sinking and lingering, dispersing into the muscles. The body turns yellow like an orange peel, hence it is called Yin Jaundice. In the past, it was said that after purgation therapy, if the body and eyes turn yellow, one should seek treatment principles within cold and astringent patterns. This belongs to such categories.
To treat Yin Jaundice, manifesting as aversion to hearing speech and difficult urination, use Qin Jiao Tang (Gentian Decoction).
Qinjiao (Radix Gentianae Macrophyllae), prepared by removing sprouts and soil, 1 liang; Xuanfuhua (Flos Inulae), 0.5 liang; Chi Fuling (Poria Cocos with red skin removed), 0.5 liang; Gancao (Radix Glycyrrhizae Preparata), roasted and cut, 0.5 liang.
The above four ingredients are coarsely crushed and sifted. Each dose consists of 4 qianbi (approx. 4-6 grams). Boil with one zhan (approx. 200ml) of cow's milk until reduced to six-tenths volume. Strain and take warm. No specific timing required.
To treat Yin Jaundice, where the body resembles the color of an orange and urination is difficult, use Yinchen San (Artemisia Scoparia Powder).
Yinchenhao (Herba Artemisiae Scopariae), 2 liang; Gui (Cortex Cinnamomi), bark removed, 0.5 liang; Zexie (Rhizoma Alismatis), 1 liang 1 fen; Chi Fuling (Poria Cocos with red skin removed); Baizhu (Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae); Zhuling (Poria Cocos with black skin removed), each 3 fen.
The above six ingredients are crushed, sifted, and made into a powder. Each dose is 2 qianbi, taken with warm water. Administer three times daily.
To treat Yin Jaundice, use Longdan Tang (Gentiana Decoction).
Longdan (Radix Gentianae); Qinjiao (Radix Gentianae Macrophyllae), prepared by removing sprouts and soil, each 1.5 liang; Shengma (Rhizoma Cimicifugae), 1 liang.
The above three ingredients are coarsely crushed and sifted. Each dose is 5 qianbi. Soak in 1.5 zhan of water overnight. At dawn, decoct until reduced to eight-tenths volume. Add 5 he of yellow cow's milk. Decoct again until reduced to one zhan. Strain and take warm in two divided doses on an empty stomach. Administer twice daily. Stop when bowel movement becomes loose.
To treat Yin Jaundice, use Chixiaodou San (Vigna Angularis Powder).
Chixiaodou (Semini Vigna Angularis); Dingxiang (Flos Syzygii aromatici), each 21 grains; Shexiang (Moschus), finely ground, 1 qian; Gudi (Fructus Momordicae), 14 pieces; Qingbu Hui (Ash of blue cloth), 2 qian.
The above five ingredients are crushed and ground into a powder. Each dose is 1 qianbi, taken with hot water. Administer twice daily. Stop when vomiting occurs. Additionally, blow a small amount of the powder into the nose; the discharge of yellow fluid indicates efficacy.
To treat Yin Jaundice, where urine color remains unchanged, there is a desire for spontaneous diarrhea, abdominal fullness, and panting, which inevitably leads to hiccups, Banxia Tang (Pinellia Decoction) is suitable.
Banxia (Rhizoma Pinelliae Preparata), washed seven times with boiling water to remove slipperiness, dried, 1 liang; Renshen (Radix Ginseng), 2 liang; Gegen (Radix Puerariae Lobatae), 2 liang.
The above three ingredients are cut into particles the size of hemp seeds. Each dose is 4 qianbi. Use one zhan of water, add 0.5 fen of sliced fresh ginger. Decoct until reduced to seven-tenths volume. Strain and take warm at any time.
