A prescription for treating various wind pathogens. On the fifth day of the fifth lunar month at noon, harvest leaves of Xanthium sibiricum (Cang'er Ye) using a dry grass sickle, wash them, sun-dry them, crush them, and sieve the powder. Take one fangcun bi (a square-inch measure) with wine or gruel,
three times a day. If prepared as a powder, and if nausea or vomiting occurs, it can be made into pills with honey; take ten pills, equivalent to the quantity of one fangcun bi mentioned previously. For mild cases that are easy to treat, take twice a day. If the areas affected by wind on the body develop millet-like bumps or particles resembling hemp seeds or beans, this indicates the expulsion of wind toxicity. These can be lanced with a pi needle (a surgical knife) to drain them; yellow fluid will emerge, and drainage should continue until it is exhausted. Collect more on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month, dry them in the shade, store them in large urns, and use them gradually. This herb repels evil qi. Those who visit patients or examine illnesses should take it to eliminate fear. If the seasonal qi is discordant, the whole family may take it. If suffering from stomachal distension, mental oppression, and fever, take it; it also eliminates the Three Worms. For intestinal hemorrhoids, if the patient can eat, taking it for one year is beneficial; it can also be collected on the seventh day of the seventh lunar month and the ninth day of the ninth lunar month.
