Treatment for She Syndrome (a condition caused by ingesting foreign objects or parasites, with symptoms resembling a snake coiling):
Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma), Fuling (Poria), each half tael (another version uses Huangqin Scutellariae Radix); Wumeigu (Sepiae Endoconcha), two pieces; Zaojiao (Gleditsiae Fructus Spinosus), six pieces (those shaped like pig's teeth); Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma), one chi long and as thick as a finger; Mangxiao (Natrii Sulfas), one piece the size of a chicken egg.
The above six ingredients are crushed. Boil in six sheng of water for three boils, strain to remove dregs, add Mangxiao, and when the temperature is suitable, take the entire dose at once. Take one dose every ten days, prepared as described above. To prepare for taking the medicine, fast from food the night before, and take it on an empty stomach at dawn; this should expel the root of the disease.
Treatment for Bie Syndrome (abdomen hard and swollen, large as a plate, unable to lie down and sleep):
Take one jin of Lancao (Isatidis Folium or similar blue-dye plant), crush it, add three sheng of water, squeeze out the juice, and take one sheng per dose, twice daily.
Another prescription:
Take one handful of Qiaogen Baipi (Phytolaccae Radix Cortex Albus), grind to extract juice, mix with water, and take in one dose.
Yet another prescription:
Take one sheng of Bai Ma Niao (Equini Urine) and three chicken eggs, use only the albumen, simmer until reduced to two he, and take on an empty stomach in one dose; within a short time, the pathogenic factor should be vomited out.
Treatment for illness acquired through diet, where the pathogenic factor resides in the Xin Xia (epigastrium), presenting as hardness characteristic of Bie Syndrome:
Take one sheng of Jishi (Galli Stercus), stir-fry until yellow, take five he, soak in one sheng of wine, then take half of the infused wine. Pound the remaining residue into powder, and take one fangcun bi (approx. 2.7g) of the powder with the infused wine, twice daily. Prepare one dose over three days.
Treatment for Jiaolong Disease (onset resembles epilepsy, complexion greenish-yellow, caused by excessive consumption of cold natured food Xingtang, resulting in vomiting a creature with head and tail):
On March 8th of the 6th year of Kaihuang, a person contracted this illness after eating celery. The onset resembled epilepsy, with a greenish-yellow complexion. Due to excessive intake of cold-natured Xingtang (malt sugar), they vomited out a Jiaolong (dragon-like creature) with both head and tail. Since then, those suffering from this disease were instructed to consume three dou of cold-natured Xingtang, which proved highly effective.
Treatment for Shi Syndrome (caused by wild people being bitten by lice, which grow in the abdomen):
One old, worn-out comb (Bizi); one old, worn-out hairbrush (Shu).
Break each of the above two items into two parts. Take one part of each and burn them to ash. Take the other part of each, boil in five sheng of water until reduced to one sheng. Use this liquid to swallow the previously burned ashes in one dose; the pathogenic factor will be expelled shortly.
Treatment for Mi Syndrome (constant craving for rice; if unavailable, clear fluid emerges from the chest):
Jishi (Galli Stercus), one sheng; Baimi (Oryza Sativa), five he.
Stir-fry the two ingredients together until the rice is scorched, pound into powder. Take with two sheng of water in one dose until finished. Shortly thereafter, vomit out material resembling ground rice. If no rice-like substance is vomited, phlegm will be expelled, leading to permanent aversion to rice and cessation of its consumption.
Treatment for Rou Syndrome (insatiable craving for meat, desiring more even after eating):
Drink three sheng of Bai Ma Niao (Equini Urine) on an empty stomach. Meat will be vomited out; if not vomited, death is inevitable.
Treatment for Fa Syndrome (caused by ingestion of pathogenic factors, lingering in the chest as if insects moving up and down, intense desire to drink oil, consuming up to two or three sheng daily, loss of appetite):
Take one sheng of You (oil), decoct with Xiangze (Semen Sesami Album / Sesame Oil), store in a large container, and place beside the patient's head. Allow the patient's mouth and nose to hover over the oil without drinking it. Apply the aroma to the nose and face. When the patient cries out wanting to drink, do not give it to them. They will become extremely fatigued and fall into deep sleep. The Fa pathogen will emerge from the mouth along with the oil. A person must watch closely. Place a bag of Duanshi (Calcined Alum) nearby. When the pathogen appears, grasp it with hand dipped in ash powder and pull it out. It will be extracted completely in a moment; this is the Fa pathogen. Initially emerging from the abdomen, it resembles thick vegetable matter in flowing water. Its shape corresponds to the length of the Fa pathogen.
Another prescription:
Decoct three sheng of Jiu (Wine) with two sheng of Zhuzhi (Suill Grease / Pig Fat) until boiling three times. Take one sheng per dose, twice daily. Taking it with Bai Ma Niao (Equini Urine) is also good. If horse urine is unavailable, Bai Niu Niao (Bovini Urine) may be used.
For Zheng Jia (abdominal masses), moxa the point Wanwanzhong behind the medial malleolus, using the number of moxa cones corresponding to the patient's age. Also moxa Qihai (CV6) with 100 cones.
For chronic cold, and in women, Zheng Jia, borborygmus, diarrhea, and colic around the umbilicus, moxa Tianshu (ST25) with 100 cones, repeated three times. Do not needle. The point is located 2 cun lateral to the umbilicus.
For accumulation with hardness and fullness, moxa the Front-Mu point of the Spleen, Pimuo (SP15/Zhangmen), with 100 cones. The point is at the end of the costal arch (Zhangmen).
For hardness under the heart, accumulation with cold distension, moxa Shangwan (CV13) with 100 cones, repeated three times. The point is approximately 1 cun below Juque (CV14).
For accumulation hard and large as a plate, with cold distension, moxa Weiwuan (CV12) with 200 cones, repeated three times. The point is 2 cun below Juque (CV14).
