Treatment for Qi Lin (Qi-type strangury) with abdominal distension and enlargement, generalized jaundice of the body and face, as well as formulas for Jiudan (Alcohol-induced Jaundice) presenting with shortness of breath and dyspnea.
Yinchen (Artemisiae Scopariae Herba), Tianmendong (Asparagi Radix), Zhizi (Gardeniae Fructus) (each 4 liang), Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma), Guixin (Cinnamomi Ramulus) (each 3 liang), Tongcao (Tetrapanacis Medulla), Shigao (Gypsum Fibrosum) (each 2 liang), Banxia (Pinelliae Rhizoma) (0.5 sheng).
The above eight ingredients are processed: Da Huang, Tong Cao, Tian Dong, Zhi Zi, and Ban Xia are dried by exposure to sun. They are then combined, pounded, and sieved. Honey pills the size of soybeans are made. Take three pills, three times a day. Avoid raw fish; take with bean soup decoction. Alcohol is prohibited. (In another version, remove Shi Gao and add Huashi [Talcum] 2 liang.) If ineffective, increase dosage up to ten pills.
Formula for Nulaodan (Female Labor-induced Jaundice).
Xiaoshi (Natrii Nitras), Fanshi (Alumen). (each 0.5 liang).
Process the above two ingredients and sieve them. Administer one fangcun bi (a measure equivalent to a square inch scoop) with barley porridge juice, three times a day. Cover the patient with thick clothing to induce sweating. The pathogen exits via stool and urine; urine becomes distinctly yellow, and stool becomes distinctly black.
Regarding Shidan (Dampness Jaundice): Initially, the patient experiences whole-body pain, fever, and a dark-yellow complexion. After seven or eight days, high fever occurs due to blood stasis in the interior, which must be purged. The discharged material resembles pig liver. If the lower abdomen is full, urgently administer Fanshi Huashi San (Alumen and Talcum Powder) to purge. This formula also treats generalized jaundice, ocular jaundice, abdominal fullness, and difficult urination:
Fanshi (Alumen), Huashi (Talcum) (each 5 liang).
Process the above two ingredients and sieve them. Administer one fangcun bi with barley porridge juice before meals, three times a day. When bowel movements become free and bloody discharge occurs, sweating should ensue, leading to recovery.
Shigao (Gypsum Fibrosum), Shigao (Gypsum Fibrosum) (equal parts).
Process the above two ingredients and sieve them. Administer one fangcun bi with barley porridge juice, three times a day. Recovery occurs when urination becomes extremely profuse.
