Treats chronic conditions caused by the Eight Winds and Five Zhu (infectious diseases), characterized by whole-body limb traction, inability to turn over or lie on one's side, limping gait, and loss of motor control. It also treats sudden lockjaw with aphasia, slurred speech, spasticity of tendons in the limbs and spine, wandering swelling and pain, deficiency-cold accumulation leading to shortness of breath, alternating chills and fever, dysfunction of the Sanjiao (Triple Burner), impaired digestion by the Spleen and Stomach, stagnation and rebellion causing difficulty swallowing sour food, vomiting, failure of food to nourish muscles, and cases refractory to conventional medical treatment.
Jinya (Crushed to rice-grain size, placed in a small silk bag) Gan Dihuang (Dried Rehmanniae Radix) Difuzi (Fructus Kochiae; if fruits are unavailable, use stems; Su Gong suggests using Shechuangzi) Suodigen (Radix Datiscae) Fuzi (Prepared Aconiti Lateralis Radix) Fangfeng (Radix Saposhnikoviae) Xixin (Rhizoma Asari) Mangcao (Herba Elsholtziae) (each 4 liang) Qianghuo (Radix Notopterygii; Hu Qia's formula uses Duhuo instead) Shujiao (Pericarpium Zanthoxyli) (4 he)
The above ten ingredients are coarsely crushed, placed in a silk bag, and soaked in 4 dou of wine in a ceramic jar. Seal the mouth tightly to prevent leakage of vapor. Soak for three to four nights in spring and summer, and six to seven nights in autumn and winter. After the wine is ready, remove the dregs. Take 1 he daily. This wine is non-toxic and may induce slight intoxication; maintain a continuous mild alcohol effect without exhausting it. One course of treatment ensures recovery from all ailments and promotes robustness and strength. When the wine is consumed, you may add 3 liang of each herb again, except for Shujiao, which should be 5 liang, added with wine as before, but do not add Jinya. For cold patterns, add Ganjiang (Dried Zingiberis Rhizoma) 4 liang. Taking this wine is superior to moxibustion and acupuncture. It is miraculously effective for various wind-induced limb tractions persisting for thirty years. (Zhouhou Beiji Fang and Beiji Qianjin Fang use Shengma and Ganjiang 4 liang each, Renshen 2 liang, Shihu and Niuxi 5 liang each, without Suodigen, totaling fourteen ingredients. Su Gong omits Dihuang, totaling thirteen ingredients. Another prescription uses Jili 4 liang.)
