The *Guangji Fang* treats "mi mu" (a sensation of a foreign body in the eye or ocular disease) using ash from steamer bands.
Take a small amount of the band at the bottom of a rice steamer, burn it into ash, and take one fangcun bi (an ancient measuring spoon) with water; the sensation will be expelled immediately. (This method is identical to that in *Zhouhou Beiji Fang*).
Another formula for treating "mi mu" where the foreign body cannot be expelled from the inner eyelid skin ("yin fu") uses Qumai San.
Qumai (Herba Dianthi), Ganjiang (Rhizoma Zingiberis Recens) (each 2 fen).
Grind the above two herbs into powder, take one fangcun bi with well-water drawn in the morning, three times a day; within no more than three doses, the foreign body will be expelled.
Another formula for treating "mi mu" uses pig fat inserted into the nose.
Take pig fat the size of half a chicken egg, wrap it around the nostril and insert it. Depending on whether the foreign body is in the left or right eye, place the pig fat in the corresponding nostril and inhale. Then lie supine immediately; after a short while, the location of the foreign body will become imperceptible.
Another formula for treating wheat awns entering the eye and failing to exit.
Boil juice from large barley and drip it into the eye; the awn will exit effectively.
*Zhouhou Beiji Fang* treats eyes irritated by awns, grass, sand, stones, etc., that cannot be expelled.
Grind ink thoroughly, dip a new brush into it, and apply it to the pupil of the eye.
Another formula:
Put a small amount of salted fermented soybeans (Yanchi) into water, look closely at the water surface, and the foreign body will exit. (Both formulas are from Volume I).
*Shenshi Fang* treats eye pain and sudden injury from "mi mu," resulting in visual dimness due to heat.
Take the white part of Difusi (Fructus Kochiae) and drip it into the eye.
*Qianjin Yifang* treats "mi mu" causing unclear vision.
Pound sheep tendons and deer tendons until torn, chew them thoroughly in the mouth, and apply the paste to the face. Gently massage with hands. If there is "mi mu," after fourteen repetitions (two sevens), the foreign body will be expelled; observe the location of the irritation.
*Qianjin Yifang* Bogan Tang (Liver-Nourishing Decoction) treats insufficiency of Liver Qi, characterized by spasm and pain in both hypochondria, alternating chills and fever, unclear vision, as well as heart pain in women, mastitis (Ruyong), heat in the knees and shins, Xiao Ke (wasting-thirst syndrome), withered nails, and bluish discoloration of the mouth and face.
Gancao (Radix Glycyrrhizae Preparata, honey-fried), Fangfeng (Radix Saposhnikoviae) (each 3 liang), Wutou (Radix Aconiti Lateralis Preparata, processed) (2 liang), Dazao (Fructus Jujubae) (20 pieces), Xixin (Herba Asari), Baiziren (Semen Platycladi), Fuling (Poria) (each 2 liang), Ruiren (Fructus Pruni Persicae Seed/Prunus mume seed? Note: Usually refers to Fructus Pruni Persicae or similar, here likely Prunus mume kernel or similar nourishing kernel), Guixin (Cortex Cinnamomi) (each 1 liang).
Cut the above nine herbs, decoct in eight sheng of water until reduced to three sheng, divide into three doses. Avoid consuming Haizao (Sargassum), Songcai (Chinese cabbage), pork, raw scallions, and vinegar-pickled vegetables.
Another Bogan Tang (Liver-Nourishing Decoction) treats insufficiency of Liver Qi.
Gancao (Radix Glycyrrhizae Preparata, honey-fried), Huangqin (Radix Scutellariae), Renshen (Radix Ginseng), Guixin (Cortex Cinnamomi) (each 2 liang).
Cut the above four herbs, decoct in six sheng of water until reduced to two sheng, divide into three doses. Dietary restrictions are the same as above, except for raw scallions.
