Take one egg yolk and ingest it. It is best if taken no more than three times. (Same as *Beiji Qianjin Yaofang*)
Another formula:
Dry floating duckweed on water, grind into powder, and take orally. It is effective for urinary difficulty, water distension, and edema. (Same as *Qianjin Yifang*)
Another formula:
Roast mantis egg cases (Sangpiaoxiao), grind into powder, and take with water using a measure of one cun bi (square-inch spoon). Daily administration yields good results.
Another formula for treating Baozhuan caused by holding urine for too long:
Burn your own fingernails/claws into ash and ingest them. (From *Beiji Qianjin Yaofang*)
Another formula:
Take three finger-pinches of dust from the roof beam, mix with water, and ingest. Miraculous effect.
Another formula:
Ingest Polygoni Catapadi Semen (Puhuang) using a measure of one cun bi. Take three times daily for good results.
Fan Wang's formula for treating Baozhuan with inability to urinate:
Roll the patient in a rush mat and place them upside down, letting their head touch the ground. Repeat this inversion three times, then urination will flow freely. (Same as *Zhouhou Beiji Fang*)
Another formula:
Passeris Excrement (Banhe - half he)
Plantaginis Semen (Cheqianzi)
Talcum (Huashi) (each 4 liang)
Tetrapanacis Medulla (Tongcao)
Paeoniae Radix Alba (Shaoyao) (each 2 liang)
Cut the above five herbs, boil in 7 sheng of water, reduce to 3 sheng. Take 5 he per dose, twice daily. Administer before meals; immediate cure.
Another formula for treating critical Baozhuan nearing death and urinary incontinence:
Take clear liquid from fermented bean paste (Doujiang Qing) and soot from the kitchen chimney (Zaotu Hei) in an amount the size of a bean. Insert into the genital opening. Immediate cure. (Both from Volume 15)
*Beiji Qianjin Yaofang* formula for treating sudden urinary retention and Baozhuan:
Plantaginis Herba (Cheqiancao) 1 jin, Water 1 dou. Boil to obtain 4 sheng. Divide into four doses. (Same as *Duanju*, from Volume 6)
*Gujin Luyan* formula for treating Baozhuan with urinary retention, Hair Powder:
Human Hair (Luancha) (3 jin, washed clean of dirt and burnt)
Talcum (Huashi) (0.5 jin)
Cyprini Carassii Dens (Liyu Chi) (1 liang)
Grind and sieve the above three ingredients into a powder. Take one cun bi with drink, three times daily for good results.
Another formula for treating Baozhuan with inability to urinate:
Amber (Hupo) (1 liang)
Scallion White (Congbai) (14 stems)
Boil the above two ingredients in 4 sheng of water, reduce to 3 sheng. Remove the scallions. Sieve the Amber finely and add to the decoction. Take 1 sheng warm, three times daily for good results. (Same as Fan Wang)
Zhang Miao stated that someone who forcibly held urine developed Baozhuan, unable to pass both large and small amounts of urine. After four or five days, they were critically ill, near death, and pulseless. Taking this formula cured them:
Talcum (Huashi) (2 liang)
Human Hair (Luancha) (3 liang, burnt to ash)
Grind and sieve the above two ingredients. Take 1 jin of fresh peach bark (Taobai Pi), cook until soft, pound thoroughly, mix with water, and squeeze out juice to obtain 2 sheng. Use this juice to take the powder, one cun bi per dose, three times daily. The patient will recover. For those with only strangury (Lin syndrome), take 3 liang of human hair burnt to ash and 5 liang of Talcum, grind together into a powder. Take one cun bi, three times daily.
It is also said that inability to urinate is due to Baozhuan, or compression by cold-heat pathogens causing the bladder to bend and fail to expand, preventing fluids from entering to form urine, and urine remaining in the bladder. Formula for this:
Use the leaf of a scallion (Congye), remove the tip, insert it into the urethral meatus, and blow air. Initially blow gently, gradually increasing force, allowing air to enter the bladder. Once fluids enter, recovery occurs.
Zhu Yu used this method to treat the 15-year-old son of General Guo Hu. The herbs used were:
Abutilonis Semen (Kuizi) (1 sheng)
Tetrapanacis Medulla (Tongcao)
Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (Gancao) (each 2 liang, honey-fried)
Pyri Folium (Shiwei) (1.5 liang, hairs removed)
Talcum (Huashi) (4 liang)
Ulmus Cortex (Yupi) (2 sheng)
Boil the above six herbs in 1 dou of water, reduce to 3 sheng. Let the patient drink. (Same as Fan Wang, from Volume 26)
