The *Bixiao Fang* (Miraculously Effective Prescriptions) treats yin sores, specifically sores appearing on the edges of the yin region like millet grains, accompanied by dampness and itching.
Take a large handful of the white inner bark from the north-facing side of a locust tree (Sophorae Tonkinensis Cortex), which has never seen sunlight, and a pinch of salt held between three fingers. Boil these in two large sheng of water until one sheng remains. Wash the affected area with this decoction, three to five times a day. Use it at a comfortable temperature. If traveling a long distance and fearing exposure to wind, mix the powder with rice flour and apply it topically; this is miraculously effective.
Furthermore, there are two types of yin sores: one type discharges white pus, called Yin Shi Chuang (Yin Erosion Sore); the other type is merely red and forms a sore, called Re Chuang (Heat Sore). For heat sores, use this prescription.
Take Huangbai (Phellodendri Cortex) and Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix), each one liang, cut them into pieces, and wash the area with the decoction. Then, apply a powder made from Huangbai (Phellodendri Cortex) and Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma); it is said to be excellent.
Another prescription:
Mix Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma) with Hufen (Lead Carbonate) and apply topically. It is certainly effective.
Another prescription:
Ziya Cha Mo (Purple Bud Tea Powder) (one fen)
Heye (Lotus Leaf) (one piece, burned to ash)
Grind the above two ingredients into powder. After washing thoroughly with saline solution, apply the powder to the sore. It will heal in three to five applications.
Another prescription:
Take the dry soil skin from places where water stagnates, grind it into powder, and apply it topically. This is miraculously effective. (This was used successfully by Guo Cheng'en of Chang'an, as recorded in Volume 4.)
Emergency prescriptions for sudden injury to the yin region caused by sand or gravel.
Zhuti (Pig's Trotter) (one whole, split open)
Fuping Cao (Lemna Minoris Herba) (three liang)
Boil the above two ingredients in three large sheng of water until half a sheng remains. Strain out the dregs. Store the liquid in a bottle. Immerse the yin region in the bottle. When the liquid cools, remove it, wipe dry, and then apply the following powder.
Another method of applying powder:
Qiangwei Genpi (Rosae Rugosae Radicis Cortex)
Huangbai (Phellodendri Cortex) (each three fen)
Puxiao (Natrii Sulfas)
Shechuangzi (Cnidii Fructus) (each one fen)
Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma) (two fen, honey-fried)
Grind the above five ingredients into a powder. After soaking and washing with the previous method, sprinkle the powder onto the sore. It will not cause much pain. Avoid exposure to wind. (Recorded in Volume 8.)
*Bixiao Fang* (Miraculously Effective Prescriptions) treats injuries caused by sand.
Take one egg, boil it hard, peel off the shell, and take the white part. Mix this with the whites of two raw eggs. Grind finely. Wrap in cotton cloth and secure firmly. (Li Raozhou stated this is remarkably effective.)
Another prescription:
Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma)
Huangbai (Phellodendri Cortex)
Baifan (Alumen) (burned until the liquid evaporates completely)
Grind the above three ingredients into powder and apply topically. (Recorded in Volume 4.)
