Whenever red flesh protrudes from the edge of a fingernail and recurs frequently, it is termed *Jia Ju* (Nail Fungus/Onychia). Apply *Simiao Gao* (Four Marvels Ointment) to seal the wound, changing it three times daily until the toxin dissipates and the wound closes.
When a *Ju* (carbuncle/sore) arises in the center of the chest, it is also called *Man Xin Rui Du* (Slow Heart Sharp Toxin). Initially, there is a lump inside the chest that gradually enlarges and rises; if the toxin sinks inward, death ensues. Physicians often shrink back from treating this condition, and medical texts generally lack treatment methods. Only my family's secret collection records a method: measure the length of all ten fingers of the patient with a thread, accumulate these lengths, and place them at the midpoint of the trachea, looping around to the center of the spine. The ends of the threads mark the central acupoint. Then, using the middle segment of the patient's middle finger as a measure made from a twig core, determine the distance to the left and right of the central point, marking them with ink to establish three acupoints, analogous to the distribution of the Pericardium Meridian of Hand-Jueyin (HT). For each acupoint, moxa is burned for three moxibustion units (*Zhuang*) simultaneously. After moxibustion, recovery occurs.
Ma states: *Jing Ju* (Well Carbuncle) arises from reckless movement of Heart Fire, generating slow heart toxin, which is essentially an abscess of the stomach region (epigastric carbuncle). Medical formularies contain treatment methods for this.
It is also said: *Jing Quan* (Well Spring) in its initial stage is not necessarily fatal, but it tends to form fistulas and is difficult to close in the later stages.
A lesion appears between the neck sides, initially as a small lump without pain or itching, located within the subcutaneous fascia. It gradually enlarges to the size of a peach pit, with irregular lateral growths, while the skin color remains unchanged. Administer *Zilong Wan* (Dragon Egg Pill), 3 fen per dose, taken with light ginger decoction, three times daily, until the lump resolves. If children cannot take pills easily, administer one pill of *Xiaojin Dan* (Little Gold Pill) dissolved in aged wine, cover warmly to induce sweating, and continue until resolution. Avoid eating sweet oranges for several years, as consumption may cause recurrence.
For *Luo Li* (Scrofula/Lymphadenitis), whether ulcerated, suppurating but un-ulcerated, or non-suppurating, *Xihuang Wan* (Rhinoceros Horn Pill) should be administered to relieve pain in ulcerated areas, reduce distension in suppurating areas, and dissipate nodules in non-suppurating areas. For those already suppurating, use *Yaotou Gao* (Head-Biting Ointment) to pierce the head. Daily administration of formulas that warm and tonify, resolve phlegm, open interstices, invigorate blood, and strengthen qi, combined with external application of *Yanghe Jiening Gao* (Warm Resolving and Coagulation Ointment), leads to cure.
In severe cases where *Luo Li* ulceration spreads to the shoulders, chest, and hypochondrium, wash the affected area with decoction of *Jingjie Gen* (Schizonepeta Root). Apply *Xionao San* (Borneol Powder) mixed with sesame oil externally. Internally, administer three doses of *Dongtian Jiuku Dan* (Cave Heaven Bitter Rescue Pill) and six doses of *Xihuang Wan*. After nine days of medication, when the skin turns white and the wound bed becomes red and vibrant, follow up with *Dazao Wan* (Jujube Pill). As muscle regenerates, apply *Shengji San* (Flesh-Generating Powder) daily to complete healing.
If *Luo Li* ulceration extends to the throat, causing sensations akin to drinking hot water and external burning pain, the condition is extremely critical. Delay may result in perforation of the throat, which is incurable. Immediately take a twig core, measure the patient's middle finger (specifically the third segment), noting the length. For males, use the left hand; for females, the right hand. Locate the midpoint of the wrist bone's prominence. Using the measured twig core, measure upwards from this point to the end, identifying the elbow acupoint. Mark with ink and perform moxibustion with three moxa cones. Cover with ointment to prevent throat perforation. Surgery is strictly contraindicated for *Luo Li*.
The method for concluding treatment has been listed previously. The rhyme for applying medicaments is as follows: When scrofula ulceration is unbearable, spreading to the chest, waist, ears, and shoulders, wash repeatedly with warm Schizonepeta root decoction. Do not puncture purple-black masses in the wound. Xihuang Pill and Dazao Pill are miraculous; daily服用 (administration), washing, and dressing lead to recovery. Fine powders of borneol and lumachilla yellow are mixed with sesame oil and applied to keep the flesh fresh.
Ma states: *Luo Li* is always a deficiency syndrome. It may be caused by yin deficiency with liver fire coagulation, spleen deficiency with phlegm-qi coagulation, or wind-phlegm and wind-dampness binding together. Zilong...
