去除头部和爪部，用水浸泡一夜，切片晒干。治疗牙痛，头风，疏通疔疮窍道。
用水浸泡去除灰尘，切片炒制，消散痈肿、蚀除脓液，治疗头风和中风，解砒霜毒。
不以油性者为佳，忌单独使用。主治一身气血，开郁结、去瘀血，调理月经、助孕，排脓生肌，治疗头风和目泪多、鼻涕多，祛湿。
用酒拌蒸，是产后要药，治疗骨蒸潮热，外面包裹后煨熟，可固涩大肠。
治疗肿毒，去除恶气，止霍乱，温中焦，顺气止呕逆。

根，水煎服用，可治愈白带。花，一两捣烂，加麝香五分，一大碗水煎服，可治愈大小便闭塞，无花时根也可使用。子，催生落胎。花末，酒送服，可使横生倒产顺利分娩。
Sweet and cold in nature, enters the Stomach, treats internal heat with vexation and thirst, promotes urination, relieves asthma, and treats jaundice.

Take a segment of living bamboo, retain nodes at both ends, open an eye in the middle, stuff firmly with Zhu Xin (bamboo pith), cover the opening with the original carved bamboo piece, wrap externally with mud, and bake in chaff fire until the bamboo becomes charcoal. Remove mud, wait for cooling, discard bamboo charcoal, leaving behind Dengxin Tan (Juncus Charcoal). Treats fishbone stuck in the throat, applies to Yin gan (ulcers of the genitalia), added to Huxin San (Heart-Protecting Powder).

Flower: one liang pounded, mixed with five fen of Moschus, decocted in one large bowl of water, can cure urinary and fecal retention; if flowers are unavailable, roots may be used. Seed: induces labor and aborts fetus. Flower powder: taken with wine, facilitates delivery in transverse or breech presentations.
Select plump ones, soak thoroughly in ginger and alum soup, boil thoroughly, slice and dry in the sun, resolves phlegm and induces abortion; raw ground fine powder immediately stops bleeding from knife or axe wounds.
