(Chi Bai You Feng [Red and White Wandering Wind], E Zhang Feng [Goose Palm Wind], Lan Jiao Feng [Rotting Foot Wind])
Leprosy (Mafeng) manifests as swelling and protrusion of the skin, accompanied by itching and numbness, resembling tree bark exuding sap. This is caused by damp-toxity generating parasites; in severe cases, it leads to the loss of eyebrows and collapse/destruction of the nasal bridge, rendering the condition incurable. It is advisable to consume Qishe Wine (Rhinoceros Viper Wine) and apply Danggui Ointment externally. Chi Bai You Feng (Red and White Wandering Wind) presents with skin itching and scaling. E Zhang Feng (Goose Palm Wind) presents with thickening, roughness, and scaling on the palms and soles. Lan Jiao Feng (Rotting Foot Wind) presents with moist ulceration of the feet. These conditions can all be treated by applying Danggui Ointment externally, taking Xiaoyao San (Free and Easy Wanderer Powder) internally, and concurrently using Shu Di Huang Wan (Rehmannia Pill).
(Wushao She [Zaocys] may also be used.)
Qishe (Rhabdophis tigrinus, head and tail removed, one whole snake), Shengdi Huang (Radix Rehmanniae Preparata, 2 liang), Huangbai (Cortex Phellodendri), Kushen (Radix Sophorae Flavescentis), Danshen (Radix Salviae Miltiorrhizae), Juhua (Flos Chrysanthemi), Yinhua (Flos Lonicerae Japonicae), Danpi (Cortex Moutan), Chishao (Radix Paeoniae Rubra), Danggui (Radix Angelicae Sinensis) [each 5 qian].
Boil the above ingredients in 5-6 jin of good raw wine, allow to cool down to remove "fire toxicity," seal for seven days, and then drink.
For treating Leprosy (Mafeng), this ointment can also be applied externally to treat Chi Bai You Feng and E Zhang Feng.
Danggui (Radix Angelicae Sinensis), Shengdi Huang (Radix Rehmanniae Preparata) [each 1 liang], Zicao (Radix Arnebiae/Lithospermi), Macao (likely Ephedrae Herba or similar, contextually uncertain but listed as herb), Mugua Zi (Semen Momordicae, shell removed), Dafengzi (Semen Crotonis Tiglii, shell removed), Fangfeng (Radix Saposhnikoviae), Huangbai (Cortex Phellodendri), Xuanshen (Radix Scrophulariae) [each 5 qian], Mayou (Sesamum Oil, 8 liang), Huangla (Beeswax, 2 liang).
First, boil the first nine herbs in the oil until charred, filter out the dregs. Then return the oil to the pot and boil until a drop forms a bead when tested in water. Add the beeswax and test that it does not disperse in water. Allow to cool slightly, pour into a lidded bowl, and place in water to remove "fire toxicity." Use after three days.
Avoid soaking in hot water, burning, and exposure to cold water. It is advisable to burn white sesame husks until carbonized but retaining their nature, grind into fine powder, and apply to the affected area. If the lesion is dry, mix with Sesamum Oil for external application. Alternatively, use powdered Cortex Broussonetiae (Bai Zi Pi) mixed with Sesamum Oil for application, which is also effective.
(Tian Pao Chuang [Heaven Blister Sore])
Jie Chuang (Scabies) with small lesions that do not suppurate mostly belongs to Wind-Heat. Lesions that are large and suppurate mostly belong to Damp-Heat. Both types should be treated with Ma Huang Gao (Ephedra Ointment) applied externally; healing occurs within ten days without leaving scars. It is still advisable to take abundant Jin Yin Hua (Flos Lonicerae Japonicae). There is also Tian Pao Chuang (Heaven Blister Sore), characterized by swollen white blisters, small ones like mung beans, large ones like broad beans, growing in patches. They may appear on the top of the head or around the ears. Apply Huangbai San (Phellodendron Powder) externally for immediate recovery.
