Ti Qi (Fox Odor), also known as Hu Qi, is a condition transmitted from parents or contracted congenitally in the womb; thus, it is an inherent constitution. Patients typically have several brownish lines and pores in the axillae from which the odor emanates. It is commonly treated by applying Wu Xiang San (Five Fragrances Powder) externally. Internally, frequently consuming garlic-stuffed pig stomach can alleviate the odor, allowing symptoms to gradually recede; this method often yields effective results.
Wu Xiang San (Five Fragrances Powder)
Wu Xiang San contains Chen Xiang (Aquilaria Wood), Tan Xiang (Sandalwood), Ling Ling Xiang (Lingling Fragrance), Mu Xiang (Aucklandia Root), and She Xiang (Musk), which together enhance efficacy and effectively neutralize fox odor.
Ingredients: Chen Xiang (Aquilariae Lignum Resinatum), Tan Xiang (Santalum Album Lignum), Ling Ling Xiang (Linglingxiang), Mu Xiang (Aucklandiae Radix), each 3 qian; She Xiang (Moschus), 3 fen.
Grind all ingredients into a fine powder. For use, take 5 li, mix with saliva, and rub onto both axillae once every three days. Alternatively, place 2 qian of the powder in a silk bag and hang it under the armpit, which is also effective.
Garlic-Stuffed Pig Stomach Formula
Take one male pig stomach, insert forty peeled cloves of garlic inside, tie the opening securely with thread, and boil in water until extremely soft. Eat the stomach dipped in salt and vinegar at will. For severe cases, add one toad and boil together. Once the stomach is soft, remove the toad and garlic, consume with hot wine, and bathe to induce sweating. Avoid wind for three days, and the odor will be completely altered.
Bai Tu Chuang (White Baldness Tinea) arises when hair shaving opens the Cou Li (skin pores and interstices), allowing external Wind pathogens to invade and accumulate. This prevents Qi and Blood from nourishing the scalp, causing the skin and flesh to dry out, resulting in white bald patches. Over time, hair falls out due to lack of nourishment.
If the bald patch is smooth, lustrous, and non-itchy, it indicates that internal Blood circulation has recovered. Apply Run Ji Gao (Moisturizing Ointment) moistened with ginger regularly to promote gradual hair regrowth. If the bald patch is dry and itchy, it suggests the presence of parasites internally. Apply Mai Jian San (Wheat Paste Powder) to kill the parasites and disperse Wind, leading to cure and hair regrowth. Afterward, avoid Wind-aggravating and Fa Wu (stimulating/triggering foods).
Mai Jian San (See section on Dou Feng Chuang/Pox Wind Sores)
Treats hair loss from bald sores, white patches resembling tinea, piled-up crusts, intense itching feeling like insects crawling. First, wash the crusts clean with green onion soup. Mix the powder with Sesame Oil (Mayou) for application, then wear a woolen hat. Pain and swelling will follow; endure this for three days, after which the crusts will gradually fall off. Upon recovery, recurrence is prevented, and hair grows back. Strictly avoid Fa Wu.
Zhu Chuang Yi Sao Guang (All Sores Swept Away) (See section on Jie Chuang/Scabies Sores)
Treats hair loss and itching caused by bald sores. Take 1 qian of this medicine, add 2 fen of Dao Gua Chen (Hanging Dust), mix with Deng Wo Su You (Old Lamp Wick Oil), apply topically for self-healing.
Run Ji Gao (Moisturizing Ointment)
Run Ji Gao uses Sesame Oil (Mayou), Zi Cao (Arnebia Root/Lithospermum Root), and Dang Gui (Angelica Sinensis) boiled together. It treats the dry appearance of bald sores; adding Huang La (Beeswax) enhances efficacy.
Treats dry, white-patched, itchy bald sores with hair loss.
Boil 4 liang of Sesame Oil (Mayou), 5 qian of Dang Gui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix), and 1 qian of Zi Cao (Arnebiae Radix seu Lithospermi Radix) until the herbs are charred. Filter the oil clearly, re-boil, add 5 qian of Huang La (Cera Flava) until fully melted, pour into a bowl, and let cool. Apply to the affected area for gradual healing.
