Hemorrhoids arise from a pre-existing accumulation of damp-heat, excessive consumption of roasted and fried foods, prolonged sitting leading to stagnant blood circulation, emotional disturbances causing damage from cold and raw foods, or physical exertion such as carrying heavy loads and long-distance travel, resulting in chaotic qi and blood flow and tangled meridians. Alternatively, excess sexual activity and alcohol consumption may injure the intestines and stomach, causing turbid qi and stasis to flow into the anus, all of which can trigger hemorrhoids. This condition affects both men and women of all ages. Some originate inside the anus, while others protrude outside the anal verge. Treatment is divided into internal and external approaches, each with preventive measures. Large hemorrhoids resemble lotus flowers, honeycombs, cauliflower-like growths, rooster combs, water caltrops, or coral; small ones resemble cherry pits, rat tails, milk nipples, chicken hearts, walnuts, or clam meat. Thus, deep-seated toxicity results in abnormal and stubborn forms, while superficial toxicity presents with regular and ordinary shapes. Over time, they may ulcerate and form fistulas; newly formed ones cause prolapse, swelling, and piercing pain. In severe cases, feces exit through the orifice and blood flows from the opening, daily depleting qi and blood and gradually emaciating the body. If not treated early, it will ultimately harm the patient. Conventional treatments often employ needles, knives, arsenic, or ligature threads, causing patients significant suffering, leading many to delay treatment upon hearing of these methods. My approach uses a few herbs refined by fire, rendering their nature mild and harmonious, proven effective in every trial. This method has been distinct for a long time. For internal hemorrhoids, first use a purgative decoction to cleanse the viscera, then apply Huanzhi San (Hemorrhoid-Calling Powder) into the anus. Within moments, the internal hemorrhoids will evert naturally. Immediately wash them clean with scallion water, then apply Kuzhi San (Hemorrhoid-Withering Powder). Apply three times daily (morning, noon, evening), washing with warm water before each application. Mild cases resolve in seven days, severe cases in eleven days, after which the hemorrhoids become withered, black, dry, and hard. Once the withering agent is stopped, pus may flow from cracks at the hemorrhoid margins. Switch to Qizhi Tang (Hemorrhoid-Raising Decoction) for daily washing. After the hemorrhoids fall off, apply Shengji San (Flesh-Generating Powder) or Fengchu Gao (Phoenix Chick Ointment) to promote tissue regeneration and wound closure. Patients with deficiency should take tonic medicines concurrently; the wound will heal completely within half a month. For external hemorrhoids, wash with Xiaodu San (Detoxification Powder) decoction, then apply Kuzhi San using the same method as for internal hemorrhoids. The process remains consistent until completion. Sexual intercourse should be avoided for one hundred days after healing to ensure good health. For chronic intestinal fistulas, two additional formulas are provided below for severe cases to take, achieving results as easily as picking up grass, without the need for needles, knives, or ligatures.
