Treats all types of carbuncle toxins, whether severely painful, painless, or numb. If painful, moxa until pain ceases; if painless, moxa until pain is felt. Thus the toxin dissipates. Fire promotes free flow and draws out stagnant toxins; this is a contrary treatment method. It has the power to revive the dying.
Peel garlic, slice it to the thickness of three copper coins, place on the sore. Apply moxa cones on the garlic. After three moxa burns, replace the garlic and continue moxing. For un-suppurated lesions, it cures immediately; for suppurated ones, it reduces the severity significantly, preventing harm. If the lesion is large, mash garlic and apply to the affected area, cover with moxa and burn. Replace when the garlic spoils. This method is especially suitable for painless lesions, those failing to suppurate, those failing to rise, or yin sores, where more moxing is indicated.
Treats carbuncles with accumulated heat, irritability, preference for cold drinks, pain, a full pulse, and constipation or difficult urination/defecation.
Rhei Radix et Rhizoma (Dahuang, stir-fried), Red Paeonia Root (Chishao), Angelicae Sinensis Radix (Danggui), Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (Gancao) (each 2 qian).
Add two zhong of water, decoct until reduced to eight-tenths. Take before meals.
