夫瘰 疮者，有风毒、热毒、气毒之异，瘰 、结核寒热之殊。其证皆由忿怒气逆，忧
思过甚，风热邪气内搏于肝经。盖怒伤肝，肝主筋，故令筋缩结蓄而肿也。其候多生于颈项
胸腋之间，结聚成核，初如豆粒，后若梅李累累相连，大小无定。初觉憎寒壮热，咽项强痛
，肿结不消者，盒饭服散肿溃坚汤，或五香连翘藜芦汤之类散之，或用牡蛎大黄汤疏利三二
行，疮上可用十香膏之类贴之，及诸淋洗敷贴等药治之，庶得消散。若不散，可用内消丸之
类消之，或隔蒜灸之，仍断欲息气，薄滋味调理之，不然恐日久变生寒热咳嗽，而成痨瘵之
疾，不可治矣。又有马刀疮，亦生于项腋之间，有类瘰 ，但初起其状如马刀，赤色如火烧
烙极痛，此疮甚猛，宜急治之，不然多成危殆也，临证辨之。
是斋立应散
治瘰 神效，已破未破皆可服。
连翘 赤芍药 川芎 当归 甘草（炙） 滑石（研，各半两） 黄芩 白牵牛（生取末）
乌尖（七个） 土蜂房（蜜水洗，饭上蒸，日干，各二钱半） 地胆（去头翅足拌米炒，米黄为
度，去米称三钱）
上为细末，每服抄一大钱匕，浓煎木通汤调下，临卧服。毒根从小便中出，涩痛不妨，
毒根如粉片块血烂肉是也。如未效再服，继以薄荷丹解其风热，且地胆性带毒，济以乌尖，
或冲上麻闷，不能强制，嚼葱白一寸，茶清下以解之。如小便涩，灯心汤调服五苓散，疮处
用好膏药贴。若疗痈疽，用此宣导恶毒，本方去黄芩不用。
柴胡连翘汤
治男子妇人马刀疮。
柴胡 连翘 知母（酒制） 黄芩（炒，以上各半两） 黄柏（酒制） 生地黄 甘草（炒，
以上各二钱） 当归尾（一钱半） 中桂（三分） 牛蒡子（二钱） 瞿麦穗（六钱）
上锉如麻豆大，每服三钱或五钱，水二大盏煎至一盏，去渣。食后稍热，时时服之。
薄荷丹
解瘰 风热之毒，自小便宣毒，后常须服。
杜薄荷 皂角（不蛀者去弦皮） 连翘 何首乌（米泔浸） 蔓荆子 京三棱（煨） 荆芥（
各一两）
上为末，好豉二两半以米醋煮沸，洒豉淹令软，研如糊，和丸桐子大。每三十丸，食后
熟水下，日一服，病虽愈常服之。
神秘散
治瘰 。
斑蝥（去头足翅，面炒，二十一个） 荆芥穗 直僵蚕（炒，去丝嘴） 黑牵牛（微炒，取
末各二钱）
上细末，每服一钱，五更好酒调下，日中当取下恶物。如不下，次日五更再进一服。或
更不下，第三日五更先吃秫米粥一盏，次服此药，其毒决下。如小便痛涩，以葱茶解之，或
木通灯心煎汤利之。
雌雄散
治瘰 。
斑蝥（一雌一雄足翅全者，新瓦焙焦去头翅足） 贯众（二钱） 鹤虱 甘草（各一钱）
上细末，作二服，饱饭后好茶浓点一盏调下。
连翘散坚汤
治耳下至缺盆或至肩上生疮，坚硬如石，动之无根，名曰马刀，从手足少阳经中来也。
或生两胁，或已流脓，作疮未破者并皆治之。
连翘 黄芩（生用） 芍药 当归尾（酒制） 京三棱（细锉） 广术（同三棱酒制，各半两）

丸药，卧如常。
遇仙无比丸
专治瘰 。
白术 槟榔 防风 黑牵牛（半生半炒） 密陀僧 郁李仁（汤泡去皮） 斑蝥（去翅足，
用糯米同炒，去米不用） 甘草（以上各五钱）
上为细末，面团为丸，如梧桐子大。每服二十丸，早晚煎甘草槟榔汤送下。服至一月觉
腹中微疼，于小便中取下 子毒物，有如鱼目状。已破者自合，未破者自消。
蝙蝠散
治瘰 多年不瘥。
蝙蝠（一个） 猫头（一个）
上同烧作灰，撒上黑豆 ，其灰骨化碎为细末。湿即干掺，干则油调敷，内服五香连翘
白花蛇散
治九漏瘰 发于项腋之间，或痛或不痛。
白花蛇（酒浸，去皮骨，焙二两） 生犀角（二钱） 牵牛（半炒半生，一两） 青皮（五钱）
上为细末，每服一钱入腻粉半钱研匀，五更糯米饮调服。已时下恶物，乃瘰 之根也。
更候十日再服一服。忌发风热毒物，已成疮者一日可效。
四圣散
治瘰 ，服白花蛇散转利后，服此药调之，永去根。
海藻（洗） 石决明（ ） 羌活 瞿麦穗（各等分）
上为细末，每服二钱，米汤调下，清水尽为度。
散肿溃坚汤
治马刀疮结硬如石，或在耳下至缺盆中，或至肩上，或于胁下，皆手足少阳经中。及瘰
遍于颏或至颊车，坚而不溃，在足阳明经中所出。或二疮已破乃流脓水，并皆治之。卧时
服药，斟酌病患饮食多少，大便软硬，以意料之则可。

为丸如绿豆大。每服一百丸或百五十丸。此药汤留一口送下，更加海藻半两炒。
瞿麦饮子
治瘰 马刀并治。
瞿麦穗（半斤） 连翘（一斤）
上为粗末，水煎临卧服此药，经效多不能速验，宜待岁月之久除也。
海藻丸
治 生于头项上交接，名蛇盘 ，宜早治之。
海藻菜（荞麦炒） 白僵蚕（微炒，去丝嘴）
上等分为细末，海藻菜旋炒研筛，汤泡白梅取肉，减半，用所泡汤为丸，如梧桐子大。
每服六七十丸，食后临卧米饮送下，其毒自大便内泄出，若与淡菜连服为妙。盖淡菜生于海
藻上，亦治此病。忌豆腐鸡羊酒面。日五六服。
琥珀膏
治颈项瘰 初发如梅子，肿结硬强，渐若连珠，或穿穴脓溃，肌汁不绝，经久难瘥，渐
成疾，并皆治之。
琥珀（一两） 木通 桂心 当归 白芷 防风 松脂 朱砂（研） 木鳖（去壳，各半两）
麻油（二斤） 丁香 木香（各三分）
上件药先用琥珀、丁香、桂心、朱砂、木香、五味捣罗为末。
其余药并细锉。以油浸一宿，于铛中以慢火煎，候白芷焦黄漉出。次下松脂末，滤去渣
，再澄清油，却安铛中慢火熬。下黄丹一斤，以柳木篦不住手搅令黑色，滴入水中成珠子不
散，看硬软得所，入琥珀等末搅令匀，于瓷器内盛之。每使时看大小，用火 纸上匀摊粘贴
蜂房膏
治热毒瓦斯毒结成瘰 。
露蜂房（炙） 蛇蜕 玄参 蛇床子 黄 （锉。各三分） 杏仁（二两半） 乱发（鸡子许）
铅丹 蜡（各二两）
上先将前五味锉细，绵裹，用酒少许浸一宿，勿令酒多。用油半斤，纳杏仁乱发，煎十
五沸。待发消尽，即绵滤，更下铛中，然后下丹蜡，又煎五七沸，即泻出于瓷盆中盛取。贴
疮上一日一换。
槟榔散
治气毒瘰 ，心膈壅闷，不下饮食。
槟榔 前胡（去芦） 赤茯苓 牛蒡子（炒，各一两） 人参（去芦） 枳壳（去穣，炒） 沉
香防风（去芦，各半两） 甘草（锉，炙，一分）
上锉碎，每服四钱，以水一盏入生姜半分，煎至六分去渣。空心及晚食前温服。
射干连翘汤
治瘰 寒热。
射干 连翘 玄参 赤芍药 木香 升麻 前胡 山栀仁 当归 甘草（炙，各一两）
大黄（炒，二两）
上 咀，每服三钱，水一盏，煎七分去渣，入芒硝少许，食后温服，日再服。
栝蒌子散
治瘰 初肿，疼痛寒热，四肢不宁。

荔枝膏
治瘰 。
荔枝肉（一两） 轻粉 麝香 白豆蔻 川芎 砂仁 朱砂 龙骨 血竭 乳香（各一钱）
全蝎（五个）
上将荔枝肉擂烂软，米饮和为膏。看疮大小摊贴，如有三五个者，只去点为头者妙。
枳壳丸
治疮疽热痈肿瘰 。
枳壳（麸炒，去穣） 牵牛（炒，取头末） 木香 青皮（以上各一两） 甘草 大黄
上为细末，用皂角长一尺许者三锭，约三两，炮焦捶碎，以好酒煮软， 取汁，熬膏稠
粘，和前药末为丸，如梧桐子大。每服三五十丸，食后葱茶下，日进二服。
皂角煎丸
治风毒瘰 。
皂角（不蛀者三十锭，内十锭炮黑，十锭酥炙，十锭用水一盅煮软揉汁用度） 何首乌
玄参 薄荷叶（以上各四两）
上为细末，与前膏子同炼蜜为丸，如豌豆大。每服三四十丸，食后温水送下。
内消丸
治疮肿初生及瘰 结核，热毒郁滞，服之内消矣。大效。
青皮 陈皮（以上各二两） 牵牛（八两，取头末二两） 薄荷叶 皂角（以上各八两，不蛀
者，去粗皮捶碎，用冷水一斗煮令极软，揉汁去渣用，熬成膏）
上将青皮、陈皮末并牵牛未和匀，用前膏子和丸，如豌豆大。每服三十丸，食后荆芥茶
，清温水皆可下。
柴胡通经汤
治小儿项侧有疮，坚而不溃，名曰马刀。
柴胡 当归尾 生甘草 连翘 黄芩 牛蒡子 京三棱 桔梗（各一钱半） 黄连（一钱）
红花（少许）
上作一服，水二盅煎至一盅，食后服。亦治瘰 ，此是攻里内消之剂。
消肿汤
治马刀疮。

清芝麻油（三斤）
上先于木炭火炼油香熟，下一十六味锉碎药并四枝四仁，熬至紫黑色，出火滤去渣。入
脂酥煎十余沸，再以新棉滤过。油澄清，拭铛令净，再入火上煎。油沸下丹，用湿柳枝作篦
子不住搅熬一日，滴在水中成珠不散则成也。离火入十味药末搅匀，再上火入云母等粉八味
，轻煎令沸，出火。不住搅一食时，于瓷盒内密封收。每用，量疮口大小，绯帛上摊贴之。

所谓瘰疬疮，有风毒、热毒、气毒的不同，以及瘰疬、结核伴有寒热症状的差异。这些证候皆因愤怒导致气机逆乱，或过度忧思，致使风热邪气内侵搏结于肝经。因为怒伤肝，肝主筋，所以导致筋脉收缩结聚而肿胀。其症状多发生在颈项、胸部和腋窝之间，结聚形成核块，起初像豆粒大小，后来像梅子李子一样累累相连，大小不定。刚开始觉得恶寒壮热，咽喉和颈部僵硬疼痛，肿胀结块不消退的，应当立即服用散肿溃坚汤，或者五香连翘藜芦汤之类的药物来消散它；或者使用牡蛎大黄汤疏通利导二三次；疮面上可以使用十香膏之类的贴敷，以及诸淋洗敷贴等药物治疗，希望能使其消散。如果还不消散，可以使用内消丸之类的药物来消除它，或者采用隔蒜灸法，同时必须节制房事、平息心气，清淡饮食进行调理，否则恐怕日久会转变为寒热咳嗽，形成痨瘵（肺结核类疾病）这种难以治愈的疾病。又有马刀疮，也生于颈腋之间，类似瘰疬，但初起时形状像马刀，颜色赤红如火烧烙般剧烈疼痛，这种疮非常猛烈，应当紧急治疗，否则多会变成危重险症，临证时需仔细辨别。
是斋立应散
治疗瘰疬神效，无论已破或未破皆可服用。
药材包括：连翘、赤芍药、川芎、当归、甘草（炙）、滑石（研碎，以上各半两）、黄芩、白牵牛（生取粉末）、乌尖（七个）、土蜂房（蜜水洗净，饭上蒸熟，日晒干燥，各二钱半）、地胆（去掉头翅足，拌米炒至米变黄为度，去掉米称三钱）。
将上述药物研成细末，每次服用一大钱匕的量，用浓煎的木通汤调服，睡前服用。毒根会从小便中排出，排尿涩痛不要紧，排出的毒根如粉片状、血烂肉样物质。如果未见效可再服，随后服用薄荷丹以解除风热，而且地胆性带毒性，配合乌尖使用，有时会导致毒气冲上引起麻木胸闷，无法强行忍受时，嚼食一寸长的葱白，用茶清送下以解毒。如果小便涩滞，用灯心草汤调服五苓散，疮处用好膏药贴敷。若治疗痈疽，用此方宣导恶毒，本方去掉黄芩不用。
柴胡连翘汤
治疗男女患马刀疮。
药材包括：柴胡、连翘、知母（酒制）、黄芩（炒，以上各半两）、黄柏（酒制）、生地黄、甘草（炒，以上各二钱）、当归尾（一钱半）、中桂（三分）、牛蒡子（二钱）、瞿麦穗（六钱）。
将药物锉成麻豆大小，每次服用三钱或五钱，加水两大盏煎至一盏，去渣。饭后稍热时，时时服用。
薄荷丹
解除瘰疬风热之毒，使毒气自小便排出，之后常需服用。
药材包括：杜薄荷、皂角（无蛀者去弦皮）、连翘、何首乌（米泔水浸泡）、蔓荆子、京三棱（煨）、荆芥（各一两）。
将药物研成末，用好豉二两半，用米醋煮沸，洒在豉上浸令变软，研成糊状，混合制成梧桐子大小的丸药。每次三十丸，饭后用温水送下，每日一服，病愈后也常服。
神秘散
治疗瘰疬。

雌雄散

蝙蝠散
治疗瘰疬多年不愈。
药材包括：蝙蝠（一个）、猫头（一个）。
将两者同烧成灰，撒上黑豆，待灰骨化碎研为细末。湿疮干掺，干疮油调敷，内服五香连翘白花蛇散。
五香连翘白花蛇散
治疗九漏瘰疬发于项腋之间，或痛或不痛。
药材包括：白花蛇（酒浸，去皮骨，焙干，二两）、生犀角（二钱）、牵牛（半炒半生，一两）、青皮（五钱）。
将药物研成细末，每次服用一钱，加入腻粉半钱研匀，五更时用糯米饮调服。此时会排出恶物，那是瘰疬的根。再过十天再服一次。忌食发风热毒物，已成疮者一日可见效。
四圣散
治疗瘰疬，服用白花蛇散转利后，服用此药调理，永绝病根。
药材包括：海藻（洗）、石决明（煅）、羌活、瞿麦穗（各等分）。
将药物研成细末，每次服用二钱，米汤调下，直到清水尽为度。
散肿溃坚汤

上将荔枝肉擂烂软，米饮和为膏。看疮大小摊贴，如有三五个者，只去点为头者妙。
枳壳丸
治疗疮疽热痈肿瘰疬。
药材包括：枳壳（麸炒，去穣）、牵牛（炒，取头末）、木香、青皮（以上各一两）、甘草、大黄。
将药物研成细末，用皂角长一尺许者三锭，约三两，炮焦捶碎，以好酒煮软，取汁，熬膏稠粘，和前药末为丸，如梧桐子大。每次服用三五十丸，食后葱茶下，日进二服。
皂角煎丸
治疗风毒瘰疬。
药材包括：皂角（无蛀者三十锭，内十锭炮黑，十锭酥炙，十锭用水一盅煮软揉汁用度）、何首乌、玄参、薄荷叶（以上各四两）。
将药物研成细末，与前膏子同炼蜜为丸，如豌豆大。每次服用三四十丸，食后温水送下。
内消丸
治疗疮肿初生及瘰疬结核，热毒郁滞，服之内消矣。大效。
药材包括：青皮、陈皮（以上各二两）、牵牛（八两，取头末二两）、薄荷叶、皂角（以上各八两，无蛀者，去粗皮捶碎，用冷水一斗煮令极软，揉汁去渣用，熬成膏）。
上将青皮、陈皮末并牵牛末和匀，用前膏子和丸，如豌豆大。每次服用三十丸，食后荆芥茶，清温水皆可下。
柴胡通经汤
治疗小儿项侧有疮，坚而不溃，名曰马刀。
药材包括：柴胡、当归尾、生甘草、连翘、黄芩、牛蒡子、京三棱、桔梗（各一钱半）、黄连（一钱）、红花（少许）。
将药物作一服，水二盅煎至一盅，食后服。亦治瘰疬，此是攻里内消之剂。
消肿汤
治疗马刀疮。
药材包括：柴胡、黄芩（生用，各二钱）、黄连、牛蒡子（炒，各五分）、黄芪、栝蒌根（各一钱半）、连翘（三钱）、当归尾、甘草（各一钱）、红花（少许）。
将药物切碎，每次服用半两，水二大盏煎至一盏，去渣，食后稍热服，忌酒湿面。
十香膏
治疗五发恶疮，结核瘰疬，疳积疽痔。
药材包括：沉香、麝香（以上各一钱）、木香、丁香、乳香、甘香、白芷、安息香、藿香、零陵香（各五钱，为细末）、当归、川芎、黄芪、木通、芍药、细辛、升麻、白蔹、独活、川椒、木菖蒲、浓朴、木鳖子、官桂、商陆根（各二钱，锉碎）、桃仁、杏仁、柏子仁、松子仁（各五钱）、槐枝、桑枝、柳枝、松枝（各二两，锉）、没药、轻粉、雄黄、朱砂、云母石、生犀角、乱发灰、白矾灰（各二两，另研如粉）、真酥、猪脂、羊肾脂（各二两）、黄丹（一斤）、清芝麻油（三斤）。
上先于木炭火炼油香熟，下一十六味锉碎药并四枝四仁，熬至紫黑色，出火滤去渣。入脂酥煎十余沸，再以新棉滤过。油澄清，拭铛令净，再入火上煎。油沸下丹，用湿柳枝作篦子不住搅熬一日，滴在水中成珠不散则成也。离火入十味药末搅匀，再上火入云母等粉八味，轻煎令沸，出火。不住搅一食时，于瓷盒内密封收。每用，量疮口大小，绯帛上摊贴之。肠胃痈疽，可作丸如梧桐子大，每服十丸，空心温酒送下。

Regarding sores and ulcers of scrofula (Luo), there are differences among wind-toxin, heat-toxin, and qi-toxin, as well as distinctions between scrofula and tubercles accompanied by chills and fever. These syndromes all arise from anger causing qi rebellion, or excessive worry and overthinking, leading to wind-heat pathogenic factors invading and clashing internally within the Liver Meridian (Liver Channel). Since anger injures the Liver, and the Liver governs the sinews, this causes the sinews to contract and knot, resulting in swelling. The symptoms mostly occur between the neck, chest, and axilla, where knots form into nodules. Initially, they are like bean grains; later, they resemble clusters of plums or dates, with no fixed size. At the onset, one may feel aversion to cold and high fever, stiffness and pain in the throat and neck, and non-resolving swollen knots. In such cases, one should immediately take Sanzhong Kuijian Tang (Disperse Swelling and Harden-Dissolving Decoction), or formulas such as Wuxiang Lianqiao Lilu Tang (Five-Aromatic Forsythia and Veratrum Decoction) to dissipate them. Alternatively, use Muli Dahuang Tang (Oyster Shell and Rhubarb Decoction) to unblock and purgatively clear two or three times. For the sore surface, apply Shi Xiang Gao (Ten-Fragrance Ointment) or similar patches, along with various washing, rinsing, and topical applications, hoping for resolution. If it does not dissipate, use Neixiao Wan (Internal Dissolution Pill) or similar preparations to eliminate it, or apply moxibustion with garlic partition. One must also abstain from sexual desire, calm the mind, and regulate diet with bland foods. Otherwise, fearing that after a long time it will transform into chills, fever, and cough, developing into Laozhai (consumption/tuberculosis), which is incurable. There is also Machang Chuang (Horse-Knife Sore), which also occurs between the neck and axilla, resembling scrofula, but initially appearing like a horse knife, red as if burned by fire, with extreme pain. This sore is very fierce and requires urgent treatment; otherwise, it often becomes critical. Differentiate carefully during clinical practice.
Shizhai Liying San (Shizhai Immediate Response Powder)
Treats scrofula with divine efficacy; can be taken whether the sore has broken or not.
Ingredients: Lianqiao (Forsythiae Fructum), Chishao Yao (Red Peony Root), Chuanxiong (Szechwan Lovage Rhizome), Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix), Gancao (Licorice Root, honey-fried), Huashi (Talcum, ground, each half liang), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix), Baiqianniu (White Morning Glory Seed, raw powder), Wu Jian (Black Viper Egg/Spore, seven pieces), Tufengfang (Earth Beehive, washed with honey water, steamed over rice, sun-dried, each 2.5 qian), Dichan (Euphorbia kansui root, remove head, wings, feet, stir-fry with rice until rice turns yellow, remove rice, weigh 3 qian).
Grind the above ingredients into fine powder. Each dose takes one large qian-bi (spoonful), mixed with thickly boiled Mutong Tang (Akebia Decoction), taken before sleep. The toxin root exits through urine; slight pain or difficulty in urination is acceptable. The expelled toxin root appears like powder flakes or bloody rotten flesh. If ineffective, take again. Subsequently, use Bohe Dan (Mint Pill) to resolve wind-heat. Note that Dichan is toxic; combined with Wu Jian, it may cause upward rushing of toxins leading to numbness and chest oppression. If unbearable, chew one cun of Congbai (Scallion White) and swallow with Chaqing (Tea Liquor) to detoxify. If urination is obstructed, take Wuling San (Five-Ingredient Powder with Poria) mixed with Dengxin Tang (Juncus Decoction); apply good ointment to the sore. To treat carbuncles and sores, use this formula to guide out evil toxins; omit Huangqin.
Chaihu Lianqiao Tang (Bupleurum and Forsythia Decoction)
Treats Machang sore in men and women.
Ingredients: Chaihu (Bupleuri Radix), Lianqiao (Forsythiae Fructum), Zhimu (Anemarrhenae Rhizoma, wine-processed), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix, stir-fried, each half liang), Huangbai (Phellodendri Cortex, wine-processed), Shengdihuang (Rehmanniae Radix, fresh), Gancao (Licorice Root, stir-fried, each 2 qian), Dangguiwei (Angelicae Sinensis Radix tail, 1.5 qian), Zhonggui (Cinnamon Twig, 0.3 qian), Niubangzi (Arctii Fructum, 2 qian), Qumaisui (Dianthi Herba spike, 6 qian).
Crush the herbs to the size of hemp seeds. Each dose uses 3 or 5 qian, decocted in two large zhan of water until one zhan remains. Strain. Take frequently while slightly warm after meals.
Bohe Dan (Mint Pill)
Resolves wind-heat toxin of scrofula, allowing toxin to exit via urine; commonly taken afterwards.
Ingredients: Du Bohe (Wild Mint), Zaojiao (Gleditsiae Sinensis Fruit, remove strings and skin if uncursed), Lianqiao (Forsythiae Fructum), Heshouwu (Polygoni Multiflori Radix, soaked in rice wash water), Manjingzi (Viticis Fructum), Jing Sanleng (Sparganii Rhizoma, baked), Jingjie (Schizonepetae Spica, each 1 liang).
Grind into powder. Use 2.5 liang of Hao Chi (Good Fermented Soybean), boil with rice vinegar, sprinkle on Chi to soften, grind into paste, mix with pills the size of paulownia seeds. Each dose 30 pills, taken after meals with warm water, once daily. Continue taking even after recovery.
Shenmi San (Mysterious Secret Powder)
Treats scrofula.
Ingredients: Banmao (Mylabris, remove head, feet, wings, stir-fry with flour, 21 pieces), Jingjie Sui (Schizonepetae Spica), Zhi Jiangcan (Silkworm, stir-fried, remove silk mouth), Hei Qianniu (Black Morning Glory Seed, lightly stir-fried, take powder, each 2 qian).
Grind into fine powder. Each dose 1 qian, mixed with good wine at wugeng (3-5 AM). Evil matter should be discharged at noon. If not discharged, take another dose at wugeng the next day. If still not discharged, on the third day at wugeng, first drink a bowl of Shumi Porridge (Millet Porridge), then take this medicine; the toxin will definitely be discharged. If urination is painful and obstructed, resolve with Congcha (Scallion Tea) or promote diuresis with Mutong and Dengxin Decoction.
Cixiong San (Male and Female Powder)
Treats scrofula.
Ingredients: Banmao (Mylabris, one male one female, complete legs/wings/wings, bake on new tile until charred, remove head/wings/feet), Guanzhong (Cyathulae Radix, 2 qian), Heshi (Nidus Vespae, 1 qian), Gancao (Licorice Root, 1 qian).
Grind into fine powder. Divide into two doses. After a full meal, mix with strong tea and drink.
Lianqiao Sanjian Tang (Forsythia Hardness-Scattering Decoction)
Treats sores growing from below the ear to the clavicle or shoulder, hard as stone, moving without root, named Machang, originating from the Hand and Foot Shaoyang meridians. Also treats sores in both hypochondria, or those already suppurating but unbroken.
Ingredients: Lianqiao (Forsythiae Fructum), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix, raw), Shaoyao (Paeoniae Radix), Dangguiwei (Angelicae Sinensis Radix tail, wine-processed), Jing Sanleng (Sparganii Rhizoma, finely crushed), Guang Zhu (Curcumae Radix, wine-processed with Sanleng, each half liang), Cao Longdan (Gentianae Radix et Rhizoma, wine-processed, 2 liang), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix, wine-stir-fried twice), Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma, wine-stir-fried twice), Cangzhu (Atractylodis Rhizoma, soaked in rice wash water, each 2 qian), Tugua Gen (Trichosanthes Radix, wine-stir-fried, 1 liang), Chaihu (Bupleuri Radix, 1.2 liang), Gancao (Licorice Root, honey-fried, 2 qian).
Make half into powder, mix with refined honey into pills the size of mung beans. Each dose 100-150 pills. The other half, crush, take 0.5 liang, soak in 1.5 zhan of water for half a day, decoct to 0.8 zhan, strain, take hot before sleep. Lie with head low and feet high, pillow removed. Swallow each mouthful ten times. Save one mouthful to wash down the pills. Sleep normally.
Yuxian Wubi Wan (Immortal Peerless Pill)
Specifically treats scrofula.
Ingredients: Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma), Binglang (Arecae Semen), Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix), Hei Qianniu (Black Morning Glory Seed, half raw half fried), Miduoseng (Lead Monoxide), Yuliren (Pruni Semen, soaked in water, peel removed), Banmao (Mylabris, remove wings/feet, stir-fry with glutinous rice, discard rice), Gancao (Licorice Root, each 5 qian).
Grind into fine powder, make into pills with dough wrapper, size of paulownia seeds. Each dose 20 pills, morning and evening, taken with Gancao Binglang Tang (Licorice and Areca Nut Decoction). After one month, feel slight abdominal pain; discharge worm-like toxic matter in urine, resembling fish eyes. Broken sores heal naturally; unbroken ones dissolve.
Bifu San (Bat Powder)
Treats scrofula persisting for years without healing.
Ingredients: Bianfu (Bat, one), Maotou (Cat Head, one).
Burn together to ash, sprinkle with black soybeans. When bones turn to ash, grind to fine powder. Apply dry powder to wet sores; mix with oil for dry sores. Internally, take Wuxiang Lianqiao Baihua She San (Five-Aromatic Forsythia and White Snake Powder).
Wuxiang Lianqiao Baihua She San (Five-Aromatic Forsythia and White Snake Powder)
Treats Jiu Lou Scrofula occurring between neck and axilla, painful or painless.
Ingredients: Baihua She (Bungarus multicinctus, soaked in wine, remove skin/bones, bake, 2 liang), Sheng Xijiao (Rhinoceros Horn, raw, 2 qian), Qianniu (Morning Glory Seed, half fried half raw, 1 liang), Qingpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium Viride, 5 qian).
Grind into powder. Each dose 1 qian, mixed with Nifen (Calomel, 0.5 qian), taken at wugeng with Nuomi Yin (Glutinous Rice Drink). Evil matter will be discharged, which is the root of scrofula. Take another dose after ten days. Avoid wind-heat inducing foods. Sores formed will show effect in one day.
Sisheng San (Four Sages Powder)
Treats scrofula. After taking Baihua She San and having bowel movements, take this to regulate and permanently remove the root.
Ingredients: Haizao (Sargassum, washed), Shijueming (Haliotidis Concha, calcined), Qianghuo (Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix), Qumaisui (Dianthi Herba spike, equal parts).
Grind into powder. Each dose 2 qian, taken with rice soup, until clear water is passed.
Sanzhong Kuijian Tang (Disperse Swelling and Harden-Dissolving Decoction)
Treats Machang sore hard as stone, below ear to clavicle, shoulder, or hypochondrium, in Hand/Foot Shaoyang meridians. Also treats scrofula on chin/jaw, hard and unbroken, in Foot Yangming meridian. Or two sores broken with pus. Take at bedtime, adjusting dosage based on diet and stool consistency.
Ingredients: Zhimu (Anemarrhenae Rhizoma, wine-soaked), Huangbai (Phellodendri Cortex, wine-fried), Gualougen (Trichosanthis Radix, wine-soaked), Kunbu (Sargassum), Jiegeng (Platycodonis Radix, each half liang), Guang Zhu (Curcumae Radix, washed/fried), Jing Sanleng (Sparganii Rhizoma, wine-washed/fried), Lianqiao (Forsythiae Fructum, each 3 qian), Shengma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma, 0.6 qian), Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma), Baishaoyao (White Peony Root), Gegen (Puerariae Radix, each 2 qian), Dangguishao (Angelicae Sinensis Radix tip), Chaihu (Bupleuri Radix), Gancao (Licorice Root, honey-fried, each 0.5 qian), Cao Longdan (Gentianae Radix et Rhizoma, 4 qian, wine-washed/fried), Huangqinshao (Scutellariae Radix tip, 1.5 qian, half wine-washed half raw).
Crush herbs. Each dose 6 qian, 2 zhan water, soak half day, decoct to 1 zhan, strain, take hot. Lie with feet high, head low. Swallow slowly ten times per mouthful. Rest normally. Prepare half amount as powder, honey pills (mung bean size). Dose 100-150 pills. Wash down with remaining decoction. Add 0.5 liang fried Haizao.
Qumai Yinzi (Dianthus Infusion)
Treats scrofula and Machang.
Ingredients: Qumaisui (Dianthi Herba spike, 0.5 jin), Lianqiao (Forsythiae Fructum, 1 jin).
Grind coarsely. Decoct in water, take before sleep. Efficacy is slow; requires long-term use for cure.
Haizao Wan (Sargassum Pill)
Treats scrofula connecting on head/neck, named Shepan Luosuo (Snake-Coiled Scrofula). Treat early.
Ingredients: Haizao Cai (Sargassum, stir-fried with buckwheat), Bai Jiangcan (Silkworm, lightly fried, remove silk mouth).
Grind to fine powder. Stir-fry Sargassum, grind/sift. Soak Bai Mei (Preserved Plum) in water, take pulp (half amount). Use soaking water to make pills (paulownia seed size). Dose 60-70 pills, after meals/before sleep with rice drink. Toxin exits via stool. Taking with Danshui (Edible Mussel) is excellent, as mussels grow on Sargassum and treat this disease. Avoid tofu, chicken, mutton, alcohol, noodles. Take 5-6 times daily.
Hupo Gao (Amber Ointment)
Treats initial scrofula on neck like plum, swollen/hard, progressing to beads, or ulcerating with continuous discharge, chronic and difficult to heal.
Ingredients: Hupo (Amber, 1 liang), Mutong (Akebia Caulis), Guixin (Cinnamon Twig), Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix), Baizhi (Angelicae Dahuricae Radix), Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix), Songzhi (Pinus Resin), Zhusha (Cinnabar, ground), Miebie (Momordicae Semen, shell removed, each half liang), Mayou (Sesame Oil, 2 jin), Dingxiang (Caryophylli Flos), Muxiang (Aucklandiae Radix, each 0.3 qian).
First, grind Amber, Dingxiang, Guixin, Zhusha, Muxiang into powder. Crush other herbs finely. Soak in oil overnight. Slow-fire decoct in cauldron until Baizhi is scorched yellow, remove. Add Songzhi powder, filter dregs, clarify oil, return to cauldron. Add Huangdan (Litharge, 1 jin), stir constantly with willow stick until black. Test in water: forms beads without dispersing. Adjust hardness. Add Amber powder, mix. Store in porcelain. Apply to paper heated by fire, patch onto sore.
Fengfang Gao (Beehive Ointment)
Treats heat-toxin and gas-toxin forming scrofula.
Ingredients: Lufengfang (Vespa Nest, roasted), Shetui (Snake Slough), Xuanshen (Scrophulariae Radix), Chuangzi (Cnidii Fructus), Huangqi (Astragali Radix, crushed, each 0.3 qian), Xingren (Pruni Semen, 2.5 liang), Luankua (Human Hair, egg-sized), Qiandan (Litharge), La (Beeswax, each 2 liang).
First five herbs, crush fine, wrap in silk, soak in little wine overnight (not too much). Use 0.5 jin oil, add Xingren and hair, boil 15 times. When hair dissolves, filter through silk. Return to cauldron, add Litharge and wax, boil 5-7 times. Pour into porcelain basin. Apply to sore, change daily.
Binglang San (Areca Nut Powder)
Treats qi-toxin scrofula, chest oppression, inability to eat.
Ingredients: Binglang (Arecae Semen), Qianhu (Peucedani Radix, remove rhizome), Chifuling (Poria with Red Coir), Niubangzi (Arctii Fructum, fried, each 1 liang), Renshen (Ginseng Radix, remove rhizome), Zhike (Aurantii Fructus, remove pith, fried), Chenxiang (Aquilariae Lignum Resinatum), Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix, remove rhizome, each half liang), Gancao (Licorice Root, crushed, honey-fried, 0.1 qian).
Crush. Each dose 4 qian, 1 zhan water, 0.5 fen ginger, decoct to 0.6 zhan, strain. Take warm on empty stomach and before evening meal.
Shegan Lianqiao Tang (Belamcanda and Forsythia Decoction)
Treats scrofula with chills and fever.
Ingredients: Shegan (Belamcandae Rhizoma), Lianqiao (Forsythiae Fructum), Xuanshen (Scrophulariae Radix), Chishaoyao (Red Peony Root), Muxiang (Aucklandiae Radix), Shengma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma), Qianhu (Peucedani Radix), Shanzhiren (Gardeniae Semen), Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix), Gancao (Licorice Root, honey-fried, each 1 liang), Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma, fried, 2 liang).
Crush. Each dose 3 qian, 1 zhan water, decoct to 0.7 zhan, strain, add Mangxiao (Mirabilitum), take warm after meal, twice daily.
Gualouzi San (Trichosanthes Seed Powder)
Treats initial swelling of scrofula, pain, chills/fever, restless limbs.
Ingredients: Gualouzi (Trichosanthis Semen), Lianqiao (Forsythiae Fructum), Heshouwu (Polygoni Multiflori Radix), Zaojiaoren (Gleditsiae Sinensis Fruit Seed Kernel), Niubangzi (Arctii Fructum, light fry), Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma, light fry), Bailuoke (Concha Haradoni), Zhizi Ren (Gardeniae Semen), Lulu (Radix Cynanchi Atrati), Qianniu (Morning Glory Seed, light fry), Gancao (Licorice Root, raw, each 1 liang).
Grind fine. Each dose 2 qian-bi, taken with warm wine after meal.
Lizhi Gao (Lychee Ointment)
Treats scrofula.
Ingredients: Lizhi Rou (Lychee Flesh, 1 liang), Qingfen (Calomel), Shexiang (Moschus), Baidoukou (Cardamomi Rotundus Fructus), Chuanxiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma), Sharen (Amomi Fructus), Zhusha (Cinnabar), Longgu (Fossilia Ossis Mastodi et Mammuti), Xuexie (Draco Sanguis), Ruxiang (Olibanum, each 1 qian), Quanxie (Scorpio, 5 pieces).
Mash Lychee flesh soft, mix with rice drink to form paste. Apply according to sore size. If multiple, only apply to the primary one.
Zhike Wan (Aurantii Pill)
Treats carbuncles, sores, heat-swelling, scrofula.
Ingredients: Zhike (Aurantii Fructus, bran-fried, remove pith), Qianniu (Morning Glory Seed, fried, take top powder), Muxiang (Aucklandiae Radix), Qingpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium Viride, each 1 liang), Gancao (Licorice Root), Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma).
Grind fine. Use 3 sticks of Zaojiao (Gleditsiae Sinensis Fruit, approx 1 chi long, 3 liang), roast charred, crush, boil in good wine until soft, extract juice, boil to thick paste. Mix with herb powder, make pills (paulownia seed size). Dose 30-50 pills, after meal with Scallion Tea, twice daily.
Zaojiao Jian Wan (Gleditsiae Decoction Pill)
Treats wind-toxin scrofula.
Ingredients: Zaojiao (Gleditsiae Sinensis Fruit, 30 sticks, 10 roasted black, 10 fried with butter, 10 boiled in 1 cup water to soft juice), Heshouwu (Polygoni Multiflori Radix), Xuanshen (Scrophulariae Radix), Boheye (Menthae Haplocalycis Folium, each 4 liang).
Grind fine, mix with previous paste and honey, make pills (pea size). Dose 30-40 pills, after meal with warm water.
Neixiao Wan (Internal Dissolution Pill)
Treats initial swelling and scrofula tubercles, heat-toxin stagnation, effectively dissolves internally.
Ingredients: Qingpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium Viride), Chenpi (Citri Reticulatae Pericarpium, each 2 liang), Qianniu (Morning Glory Seed, 8 liang, take top powder 2 liang), Boheye (Menthae Haplocalycis Folium), Zaojiao (Gleditsiae Sinensis Fruit, each 8 liang, remove coarse skin, crush, boil in 10 dou cold water until soft, squeeze juice, filter, boil to paste).
Mix Qingpi, Chenpi, Qianniu powders with paste, make pills (pea size). Dose 30 pills, after meal with Jingjie Tea or clear warm water.
Chaihu Tongjing Tang (Bupleurum Meridian-Penetrating Decoction)
Treats children's side-neck sore, hard and unbroken, named Machang.
Ingredients: Chaihu (Bupleuri Radix), Dangguiwei (Angelicae Sinensis Radix tail), Sheng Gancao (Raw Licorice Root), Lianqiao (Forsythiae Fructum), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix), Niubangzi (Arctii Fructum), Jing Sanleng (Sparganii Rhizoma), Jiegeng (Platycodonis Radix, each 1.5 qian), Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma, 1 qian), Honghua (Carthami Flos, small amount).
One dose, 2 cups water, decoct to 1 cup. Take after meal. Also treats scrofula; this is an interior-attacking internal-dissolution formula.
Xiaozhong Tang (Reduce-Swelling Decoction)
Treats Machang sore.
Ingredients: Chaihu (Bupleuri Radix), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix, raw, each 2 qian), Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma), Niubangzi (Arctii Fructum, fried, each 0.5 fen), Huangqi (Astragali Radix), Gualougen (Trichosanthis Radix, each 1.5 qian), Lianqiao (Forsythiae Fructum, 3 qian), Dangguiwei (Angelicae Sinensis Radix tail), Gancao (Licorice Root, each 1 qian), Honghua (Carthami Flos, small amount).
Crush. Each dose 0.5 liang, 2 large zhan water, decoct to 1 zhan, strain. Take slightly warm after meal. Avoid alcohol, dampness, noodles.
Shixiang Gao (Ten-Fragrance Ointment)
Treats five types of malignant sores, tubercles, scrofula, childhood malnutrition sores/hemorrhoids.
Ingredients: Chenxiang (Aquilariae Lignum Resinatum), Shexiang (Moschus, each 1 qian), Muxiang (Aucklandiae Radix), Dingxiang (Caryophylli Flos), Ruxiang (Olibanum), Ganxiang (Sweet Fragrance), Baizhi (Angelicae Dahuricae Radix), Anshixiang (Styrax), Huoxiang (Pogostemonis Herba), Linglingxiang (Agastachis Herba, each 5 qian, fine powder), Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix), Chuanxiong (Ligustici Chuanxiong Rhizoma), Huangqi (Astragali Radix), Mutong (Akebia Caulis), Shaoyao (Paeoniae Radix), Xixin (Asari Radix et Rhizoma), Shengma (Cimicifugae Rhizoma), Bailian (Trollii Bulbus), Duhuo (Angelicae Pubescentis Radix), Chuanjiao (Zanthoxyli Pericarpium), Muchangpu (Acori Tatarinowii Rhizoma), Houpo (Magnoliae Officinalis Cortex), Miebie (Momordicae Semen), Guangui (Cinnamon Bark), Shanglugen (Phytolaccae Radix, each 2 qian, crushed), Taoren (Persicae Semen), Xingren (Pruni Semen), Baiziren (Biota Semen), Songziren (Pinus Semen, each 5 qian), Huaizhi (Sophorae Branch), Sangzhi (Mori Ramulus), Liuzhi (Salix Branch), Songzhi (Pinus Branch, each 2 liang, crushed), Moyao (Myrrha), Qingfen (Calomel), Xionghuang (Realgar), Zhusha (Cinnabar), Yunmushi (Muscovite), Sheng Xijiao (Rhinoceros Horn, raw), Luankua Hui (Human Ash), Baifan Hui (Alumen Ash, each 2 liang, separately ground to powder), Zhen Su (True Butter), Zhuzhi (Pork Fat), Yangshenzhi (Sheep Kidney Fat, each 2 liang), Huangdan (Litharge, 1 jin), Qing Zhima You (Clear Sesame Oil, 3 jin).
First, refine oil on charcoal fire until fragrant. Add 16 crushed herbs and four branches/seeds, boil until purple-black, remove from fire, filter dregs. Add fat/butter, boil 10+ times, filter through new cotton. Clarify oil, clean cauldron, return to fire. When boiling, add Litharge, stir constantly with wet willow stick for one day. Test in water: forms beads. Remove from fire, add 10 fragrance powders, mix. Return to fire, add 8 mineral powders, lightly boil, remove. Stir continuously for one meal time. Seal in porcelain box. Apply to scarlet silk according to sore size. For intestinal abscesses, make pills (paulownia seed size), dose 10 pills, warm wine on empty stomach.
