The primary treatment principle is to tonify Qi and Blood. The prescribed formula is:
Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix, 3 qian), Dang Gui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix, 1 liang), Chuan Xiong (Ligusticum Chuanxiong Rhizoma, 5 qian), Yi Mu Cao (Leonuri Herba, 1 qian), Jing Jie (Schizonepetae Herba, 1 qian, charred).
Decoct in water and take orally.
If wind pathogen is present, add Chai Hu (Bupleuri Radix, 0.5 fen); if cold pathogen is present, add Rou Gui (Cinnamomi Cortex, 0.5 fen); if lochia remains unclean, add Shan Zha (Crataegi Fructus, 10 grains); if fainting due to blood loss occurs, add Pao Jiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Preparatum, 0.5 fen); if epistaxis (nosebleed) occurs, it is invariably due to deficiency of Qi and Blood. The prescribed formula is:
Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix, 2 qian), Bai Zhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma, 5 qian), Du Zhong (Eucommiae Cortex, 1 qian), Gou Qi Zi (Lycii Fructus, 1 qian), Shan Yao (Dioscoreae Rhizoma, 2 qian), Gui Shen (Angelicae Sinensis Radix, 1 qian), Fu Ling (Poria, 1 qian), Gan Cao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, 1 qian).
Decoct in water and take orally.
This formula is neither cold nor hot; it is a sacred medicine for calming the fetus. Fetal movement indicates heat; lack of fetal movement indicates cold.
Due to deficiency of Qi and Blood, since Qi and Blood are depleted, the fetus also lacks strength and cannot turn to exit, thus extending limbs first. At this point, needle puncture is necessary; the fetus withdraws due to pain, leading to dystocia. The prescribed formula is:
Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix, 1 liang), Dang Gui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix, 3 liang), Chuan Xiong (Ligusticum Chuanxiong Rhizoma, 2 liang), Hong Hua (Carthami Flos, 3 qian).
Prepare as a decoction and administer by灌 (pouring into mouth).
This occurs because fetal heat causes the fetus to be restless in the uterus, attempting to stand upright, presenting a sensation of suspension. If treated with methods for excess Qi, death would ensue immediately. The prescribed formula is:
Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix, 1 qian), Bai Zhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma, 5 qian), Fu Ling (Poria, 2 qian), Bai Shao (Paeoniae Radix Alba, 5 qian), Huang Qin (Scutellariae Radix, 3 qian), Gui Shen (Angelicae Sinensis Radix, 2 qian), Du Zhong (Eucommiae Cortex, 1 qian).
These are all sacred medicines for benefiting the waist and umbilicus. Adding a small amount of Huang Qin (Scutellariae Radix) provides cooling properties, allowing the fetus to settle naturally.
Pathogenic factors enter the Yangming channel, transforming from cold to heat, resulting in severe panting and profuse sweating. For ordinary individuals suffering from this condition, Bai Hu Tang (White Tiger Decoction) should be used. However, postpartum women have severely deficient Qi and Blood, so how can one [use such a harsh formula]? [The text implies avoiding direct clearing of heat to protect the righteous Qi]. To expel pathogens without damaging Zheng Qi (Righteous Qi) indeed yields miraculous effects.
Mai Dong (Ophiopogonis Radix, 1 liang), Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix, 5 qian), Yuan Shen (Scrophulariae Radix, 5 qian), Sang Ye (Mori Folium, 14 leaves), Su Zi (Perillae Fructus, 0.5 fen).
Decoct in water and take orally.
Generally, for symptoms of Yang collapse, once medication stops the sweating, there is hope for survival. It is advisable to stop sweating before delirium becomes fixed, using Shou Yang Tang (Collecting Yang Decoction).
Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix, 3 liang), Sang Ye (Mori Folium, 30 leaves), Mai Dong (Ophiopogonis Radix, 2 liang), Qing Hao (Artemisiae Annuae Herba, 5 qian), Yuan Shen (Scrophulariae Radix, 5-7-8 qian).
Decoct in water and take orally.
After one dose, sweating stops; after two doses, delirium settles. Subsequently, regulate with Ren Shen (Ginseng Radix), Mai Dong (Ophiopogonis Radix), Bei Wu Wei Zi (Schisandrae Chinensis Fructus), Dang Gui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix), and Chuan Xiong (Ligusticum Chuanxiong Rhizoma). This formula is suitable only for rescuing Yang collapse.
