Pediatric Zhong'e (Sudden Attack by Evil Qi) refers to the sudden invasion of the human body by ghostly or evil pathogenic factors. Regardless of age, if there is disharmony of Yin and Yang, imbalance of Ying and Wei (Defensive and Nutritive Qi), and dispersion of Shen Qi (Spiritual Energy), the disease will manifest.
For treating pediatric Zhong'e with symptoms of tightness, distension, and pain in the heart and abdomen, cyanotic-black complexion, and constipation, use Tao Nu San (Peach Twig Powder).
Tao Nu (Five pieces) Gancao (One fen, roasted until slightly red, crushed) Xingren (Twenty pieces, soaked in hot water, skin and tips removed, double-kernel, bran-roasted until slightly yellow) Shexiang (One qian)
Crush the above ingredients coarsely and sieve them into a powder. Take one qian per dose, decoct with one small cup of water until reduced to half a cup, strain, and take warm at any time. The treatment is considered effective when bowel movements are unobstructed. Adjust the dosage according to the child's age and condition.
For treating pediatric Zhong'e with symptoms of stiffness and rigidity in the chest/heart area, sudden severe pain, and impending faintness, use Gui Jian Yu San (Arrowwood Powder).
Gui Jian Yu (One fen) Zhenzhu Mo (One fen) Taoren (Ten pieces, soaked in hot water, skin and tips removed, double-kernel, bran-roasted until slightly yellow) Chuan Dahuang (One liang, crushed, slightly stir-fried)
Crush the above ingredients coarsely and sieve them into a powder. Take one qian per dose, decoct with one medium cup of water until reduced to half a cup, strain, and take warm at any time. Adjust the dosage according to the child's age and condition.
For treating pediatric Zhong'e with symptoms of heart pain, to expel evil qi, use Xionghuang Wan (Realgar Pill).
Xionghuang (Half a liang, finely ground) Zhenzhu Mo (Half a liang) Shexiang (One qian, finely ground) Niuhuang (One qian, finely ground) Badou (Twenty pieces, skin and core removed)
Grind all the above ingredients uniformly together. Mix with jujube pulp and refined honey to form pills the size of millet seeds. Take three pills per dose, washed down with Bohe Tang (Mint Decoction). Increase the dosage appropriately according to the child's age.
Pediatric Sumortality (Sudden Death) occurs because the "Three Deficiencies" coincide with an attack by Zefeng (Thieving Wind), leading to sudden death. The "Three Deficiencies" refer to: encountering a year of declining annual luck, which is the first deficiency; encountering a time when the moon is waning or empty, which is the second deficiency; ... [The original text has gaps here, referring to the closure or deficiency of the body's righteous qi].
Formula for treating pediatric sumortality:
Take half a sheet's worth of Nüqing Mo (Nüqing Powder), mix with cow's milk juice, and administer orally.
Another formula:
Extract juice from fresh cow dung, and apply a few drops into the mouth. The patient will recover.
Another formula:
Burn pig dung, dissolve in water, extract the juice, and administer orally.
Another formula:
Decoct Kushen (Sophora Root) in vinegar to extract the juice, apply a few drops into the mouth, and the patient will revive. Decocting in water is also acceptable.
Another formula:
Decoct rotten pressing boards in wine to extract the juice. Taking a small amount is effective.
Another formula:
Boil salt water until extremely salty. Use a device to pry open the mouth and pour it in. Once the liquid enters the abdomen, the patient will revive.
Another formula:
Mix hot water with ash to create a thick paste. Apply it densely over the entire body. The patient will revive after a short while.
