Pediatric sores (skin ulcers) are caused by cold and heat pathogenic factors invading the meridians, leading to stagnation and obstruction of Qi and blood. Initially, small scrofula-like nodules form, which may resemble plum or apricot pits in shape, or look like arrowheads or molehills.
To treat all types of pediatric sores with purulent discharge, accompanied by neck stiffness, headache, and alternating chills and fever in the four limbs, Chixiaodou San (Red Bean Powder) is indicated.
Chixiaodou (Vigna angularis Seed, one he, stir-fried until cooked) Bailian (Ampelopsis Radix, one fen) Lufengfang (Apiapis Cellulosa, one liang, ash removed) Shetuipi (Ophichthus Skin, two chi, calcined to ash)
The above ingredients are finely ground and sifted into a powder. For each dose, take half a qian, mixed with rice water, adjusting the dosage according to the child's age and size.
To treat chronic pediatric sores that have metastasized to two or three locations, forming ulcerated holes, Yeming Sha San (Night-Bright Sand Powder) for external application is indicated.
Yeming Sha (Guano, one liang) Baijiangcan (Bombyx Batryticatus, half liang) Xucane'e (Male Silkworm Moth, half liang) Ruxiang (Frankincense Resin, half liang) Lamiantcha (Pressed Tea Cake, half liang)
The above ingredients are finely ground and sifted into a powder, applied externally to the sores until healed.
To treat various types of pediatric sores that have not healed for a long time, Wushe San (Black Snake Powder) is indicated.
Wshero Rou (Dinodon Rufozonatum Meat, three fen, stir-fried until yellow) Jilizi (Tribulus Fructus, three fen) Qutoujizhen (Spines of Tribulus, half liang) Machixian (Portulaca Oleracea Herb, three fen, from walls) Luankui Fa (Human Hair, half liang)
The above ingredients are finely ground and sifted into a powder, mixed with wine, and inserted into the ulcerated holes until healed.
To treat various pediatric sores that have not healed for a long time and formed ulcerated holes, Dansha Gao (Cinnabar Ointment) is indicated.
Dansha (Cinnamen Rubrum, half liang, finely ground) Xionghuang (Realgar, one liang, finely ground) Kushen (Sophorae Flavescentis Radix, one liang) Baifan Hui (Alumen Ash, half liang, finely ground) Chuan Dahuang (Rhei Radix et Rhizoma, one liang) Huanglian (Coptidis Rhizoma)
All ingredients are finely chopped. Using two sheng of refined lard, decoct the herbs in a pan. When the mixture turns purple, filter out the dregs using cotton cloth. Add Dansha, Xionghuang, and Kushen, and stir with a willow branch.
For pediatric sores that penetrate acupoints, form ulcers, and cause unbearable pain:
Machixian (Portulaca Oleracea Herb, eight liang) Hushu Baipi (Quercus variabilis Bark, three liang) Shexiang (Moschus, two qian [note: text says 3 qian], finely ground) Xingren (Prunus Armeniaca Seed, three liang, soaked in hot water, skin removed, stir-fried until slightly black)
Except for Shexiang and Xingren, the other ingredients are finely chopped. Decoct with five sheng of water until reduced to one sheng. Filter out the dregs, take the clear liquid, add Shexiang and Xingren, and mix well.
Another prescription:
Use Chi Yin (red moss/fungus growing on cow dung), also known as "morning-born evening-dead flower." Dry it, grind it into powder, and apply to the sores. Effective.
