Malaria is a disease caused by summer-heat injury in summer. Its symptoms manifest as severe chills in autumn, mild chills in winter, aversion to wind in spring, and excessive sweating in summer. However, the paroxysms of malaria occur at regular intervals. At the onset of a malaria attack, it begins with piloerection (hair standing on end), followed by yawning, then progressing to shivering, trembling of the jaw, and pain in the lower back and spine. After the cold stage passes, both internal and external heat ensues, accompanied by headache and thirst.
