大凡人体感受风热之邪，加之痰饮内停，浸渍于脏腑之中，导致阴阳失调。肝气郁结蕴积而生内热，热气上冲于目，致使眼球疼痛。若热气冲击眼部组织，导致黑睛突出、恶露外溢等症，此乃眼热毒邪攻冲所致，出现眼球突出的症状，适宜服用羚羊角散方剂进行治疗。
羚羊角屑、桑根白皮（锉碎）、木通（锉碎）、赤茯苓、旋复花、葳蕤、川升麻、川芒硝（以上各一两）。
将上述药物捣碎并过粗罗筛制成散剂。每次服用二钱，用水一中盏，煎煮至六分水量，滤去药渣，饭后温服。临睡前再服用一次。
治疗眼睛黑睛突出，因风热壅滞，向上攻冲引起疼痛的症状，适宜服用葳蕤散方剂。
葳蕤（一两半）、麦门冬（一两半，去心后焙干）、桔梗（去芦头）、羚羊角屑、木通（锉碎）、子芩、黄芩。
将上述药物捣碎并过粗罗筛制成散剂。每次服用四钱，用水一中盏，煎煮至六分水量，滤去药渣，加入朴硝一钱，饭后温服。
玄参（一两半）、桔梗（去芦头）、川大黄（锉碎后微炒）、羚羊角屑、赤芍药、防风（去芦头）、黄芩。
将上述药物捣碎并过粗罗筛制成散剂。每次服用四钱，用水一中盏，煎煮至六分水量，滤去药渣，饭后温服。临睡前再服用一次。
治疗热毒攻犯眼部，导致眼球肿胀、突出的症状，适宜服用黄连丸方剂。
黄连（去须）、犀角屑、地肤子、决明子、黄芩、苦参（锉碎）、玄参、车前子（以上各一两）、川大黄。
将上述药物捣罗成细末，用炼蜜调和，捣杵三五百下，制成如梧桐子大小的丸剂。每次服药时，饭后以温水送服二十丸。临睡前再服用一次。
In general, when the human body is affected by wind-heat pathogens and phlegm-fluid retention accumulates internally, soaking the Zang-Fu organs, it leads to disharmony of Yin and Yang. Liver Qi stagnates and accumulates, generating internal heat; this heat rushes upward to the eyes, causing pain in the eyeballs. If the heat attacks the ocular tissues, causing the black pupil (Heiqing) to protrude and foul discharge to occur, this is due to eye heat-toxin attacking the area, resulting in the protrusion of the eyeball. It is appropriate to take Lingyangjiao San (Antelope Horn Powder).
Lingyangjiao Xie (Antelope Horn Shavings), Sanggen Baipi (Cortex Morus Radicis, sliced), Mutong (Stem Akebiae, sliced), Chi Fuling (Poria with Red Hosta Root), Xuanfuhua (Flower Inulae), Weirui (Rhizoma Polygonati Odorati), Chuan Shengma (Rhizoma Cimicifugae Foetidae), Chuan Mangxiao (Natrii Sulfas). (Each of the above ingredients: 1 liang).
Crush the aforementioned herbs into coarse particles and sieve them through a coarse mesh to make a powder. Take 2 qian per dose. Add one zhongzhan (approx. 300ml) of water, decoct until reduced to six-tenths of the original volume. Strain the dregs. Take warm after meals. Take again before retiring to bed.
For treating protrusion of the Heiqing (black pupil/cornea) due to wind-heat obstruction and upward attack causing pain, it is appropriate to take Weirui San (Polygonatum Powder).
Weirui (1.5 liang), Maimendong (1.5 liang, heart removed and roasted), Jiegeng (Radix Platycodonis, radix tip removed), Lingyangjiao Xie (Antelope Horn Shavings), Mutong (Stem Akebiae, sliced), Zihuangqin (Radix Scutellariae, young root), Huangqin (Radix Scutellariae).
Crush the aforementioned herbs into coarse particles and sieve them through a coarse mesh to make a powder. Take 4 qian per dose. Add one zhongzhan of water, decoct until reduced to six-tenths of the original volume. Strain the dregs. Add Puxiao (Natrii Sulfas, 1 qian). Take warm after meals.
For treating sudden protrusion and elevation of the eyeball, it is appropriate to take Xuanshen San (Scrophularia Powder).
Xuanshen (1.5 liang), Jiegeng (Radix Platycodonis, radix tip removed), Chuan Dahuang (Radix et Rhizoma Rhei, sliced and lightly stir-fried), Lingyangjiao Xie (Antelope Horn Shavings), Chi Shaoyao (Radix Paeoniae Rubra), Fangfeng (Radix Saposhnikoviae, radix tip removed), Huangqin (Radix Scutellariae).
Crush the aforementioned herbs into coarse particles and sieve them through a coarse mesh to make a powder. Take 4 qian per dose. Add one zhongzhan of water, decoct until reduced to six-tenths of the original volume. Strain the dregs. Take warm after meals. Take again before retiring to bed.
For treating heat-toxin attacking the eyes, causing swelling and protrusion of the eyeball, it is appropriate to take Huanglian Wan (Coptis Pill).
Huanglian (Radix Coptidis, mustache removed), Xijiao Xie (Cornu Rhinocerotis Shavings), Difuzi (Fructus Kochiae), Juemingzi (Semen Cassiae), Huangqin (Radix Scutellariae), Kushen (Cortex Phellodendri, sliced), Xuanshen (Radix Scrophulariae), Cheqianzi (Semen Plantaginis). (Each of the above ingredients: 1 liang), Chuan Dahuang (Radix et Rhizoma Rhei).
Grind the aforementioned herbs into fine powder. Mix with refined honey and pound for three to five hundred strokes. Form pills the size of Sophora seeds. Take 20 pills per dose with warm water after meals. Take again before retiring to bed.
For treating eyes that protrude spontaneously by one or two cun without cause:
Immediately pour cold water over the eyes. Change the water frequently. Within a short time, the eyeball should return to its normal position spontaneously, restoring the original state.
