For all Zhu diseases (Zhu disease, a category of chronic infectious or parasitic diseases characterized by lingering pathogens), the term "Zhu" implies staying or remaining. It refers to pathogenic factors residing within the human body, hence named Zhu. This condition arises from the loss of Yin and Yang equilibrium and emptiness in the meridians and collaterals, allowing wind, cold, summer-heat, dampness, dietary irregularities, and labor fatigue to linger.
