Wind, cold, and dampness are three pathogenic factors. When they combine, they form Bi syndrome (Obstruction Syndrome). These pathogens may invade at different times, with varying degrees of predominance or scarcity. When wind-dampness is predominant, it is named Wind-Damp Bi.
If the muscles are injured, leading to traction and stiffness, or if the hands and feet are uncoordinated; or if wind enters the five zang organs, causing mental confusion, incoherent speech, forgetfulness, and frequent fear; or if there is pain in the joints and limbs.
For treating Wind-Damp Bi with traction and stiffness, or uncoordinated hands and feet, the Fangfeng San (Saposhnikovia Powder) formula is indicated.
Herbs: Fangfeng (Radix Saposhnikoviae, 1 liang, remove the radicle), Chuan Shengma (Rhizoma Cimicifugae, 0.5 liang), Chuan Wutou (Radix Aconiti Kusnezoffii, 0.5 liang, processed until cracked, remove skin and umbilicus), Tianmendong (Tuber Asparagi, 1 liang, remove heart, bake), Wuweizi (Fructus Schisandrae Chinensis, 0.5 liang), Chishao Yao (Radix Paeoniae Rubra, 0.5 liang), Yuanzhi (Radix Polygalae, 0.5 liang, remove heart), Duhuo (Radix Angelicae Pubescentis, 0.5 liang), Mahuang (Herba Ephedrae, 1 liang, remove roots and nodes), Fangfeng (Radix Saposhnikoviae, 0.5 liang), Guixin (Cortex Cinnamomi, 0.5 liang), Dadou (Faba Seed, 1 he, stir-fried until cooked), Renshen (Radix Ginseng, 0.5 liang, remove rhizome), Baifuling (Poria, 2 liang), Xingren (Seed Prunus Armeniacae, 0.5 liang, soaked in water, remove skin and tips, stir-bran-fried until slightly yellow).
