Treats malaria. Generally, malaria is caused by external pathogens invading the Fengfu (GV16) acupoint and raw/cold foods injuring the Spleen and Stomach internally. Symptoms may include chills followed by fever, or only chills or only fever occurring alone, or simultaneous attacks for consecutive days, or every other day. During chills, the limbs tremble; during fever, the whole body feels like burning. There is headache, nausea, desire to drink, rapid breathing, bitter taste in the mouth, dry tongue, soreness and pain in the spine, borborygmus, and abdominal pain. For cases where various medicines fail to cure and it gradually becomes chronic malaria (Lao Nue), this medicine treats it.
Zhimu (Anemarrhenae Rhizoma), Chuan Changshan (Dichroiae Radix), Caoguo (Tsaoko Fructus), Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma Praeparata cum Melle, 2 jin each), Liangjiang (Alpiniae Officinarum Rhizoma, 20 liang), Wumei (Mume Fructus, pitted, 1 jin).
The above ingredients are made into coarse powder. Take 3 qian per dose, with one lamp of water, five slices of Shengjiang (Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens), and one Zaozi (Jujubae Fructus). Decoct until three-tenths remain, remove the dregs, and take warm.
See the "Shanghan" (Cold Damage) category for the treated syndromes and formulas.
See the "Guleng" (Chronic Cold) category for the treated syndromes and formulas.
Treats five types of Changfeng (Intestinal Wind) hematochezia: Blood before stool is called Waizhi (External Hemorrhoid); blood after stool is called Neizhi (Internal Hemorrhoid); prolapse of the large intestine is called Tuogang (Rectal Prolapse); anal tissue protruding like a teat is called Juzhi (Prolapsed Hemorrhoid); [missing character] on the head is called [missing character]. All are treated.
Huaijiao (Sophorae Tonkinensis Fructus, branches and stems removed, stir-fried, 1 jin), Diyü (Sanguisorbae Radix), Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix, soaked in wine overnight, dried), Fangfeng (Saposhnikoviae Radix, rhizome removed), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix), Zhike (Aurantii Fructus Immaturus, [missing character]).
The above are ground into fine powder, mixed with wine paste to form pills the size of Sophora seeds. Take 30 pills per dose with rice water, at any time. This medicine treats parasites in intestinal wind sores, relieves tenesmus and purulent bloody stools, stops itching and pain, reduces swelling and masses, expels damp-toxicity, and long-term use permanently removes the root of the disease.
Treats all types of malaria with regular paroxysms. This is generally due to external pathogens lodging in the Zang-Fu organs and raw/cold foods injuring the Spleen and Stomach internally. Symptoms may include chills followed by fever, or fever followed by chills, or more chills than fever, or less chills than fever, or only fever without chills, or only chills without fever, or simultaneous attacks for consecutive days, or every other day, or recurrence three to five days after an attack. During chills, the limbs tremble; during fever, the whole body feels like fire. There is headache, nausea, irritability, thirst with desire to drink, rapid breathing, dry throat, soreness and pain in the back and spine, borborygmus, abdominal pain, or phlegm accumulation in the chest causing fullness and vomiting. All are treated.
Binglang (Arecae Semen, 4 liang), Changshan (Dichroiae Radix, soaked in wine, steamed, dried, 1 jin).
The above are ground into fine powder, mixed with water and flour paste to form pills the size of Sophora seeds. Take 30 pills the evening before the expected attack, swallowing with cold wine immediately before sleep. Do not eat hot food, tea, or soups. Until the end of the fourth watch (early morning), take another 15 pills swallowed with cold wine. Avoid all hot soups and congees; warm congee can be eaten at noon, and hot food only at night. Avoid all raw/cold foods, fish, and seafood. Another method uses 16 liang of Chuan Changshan ground into powder, mixed with the whites of 15 chicken eggs to form pills. The treated syndromes and administration methods are exactly as described above.
