At the beginning of the Yin hour (3:00–5:00 AM), ensure no one else sees it. Use your left hand to pluck seven leaves from a peach tree facing east, and secretly hide them within the patient's hair.
Another prescription: Powder the *Sophora flavescens* Radix (Kushen, 苦参), mix with honey to form pills the size of *Styrax officinalis* seeds (Tongzi). Take ten pills per dose, administered with Mint Decoction (Bohe Tang). When other prescriptions fail, this one alone is miraculous.
Five qian of dried loofah tendril (Sigua Di), powdered. Take one qian per dose, mixed with one cup of well water. This will induce severe vomiting followed by sleep; do not startle the patient into waking up.
Burn mulberry silkworm pupal skin paper (Cantui Zhi) to ash, mix with wine, and take orally.
Seven sweet loofahs (finely ground), one qian of alum (Baifan). Mix with unrooted water to induce expectoration of phlegm. Repeat the dose after five days for cure.
Take goose eggs that have just shed their shells in the evening, mash with garlic, roast over fire until cooked. Consume four or five eggs to eradicate the root cause of the disease.
Another method: Stuff fresh grass or vegetable leaves into the patient's mouth to restore consciousness immediately.
In February, collect clam shells (wash clean, bake until stable properties remain, grind fine, and sieve). Divide one liang into three doses. Eat less rice at night. Mix with flour paste, shape into pills the size of soybeans. Swallow two or three pills with warm water; the phlegm will descend along with the pills. (Pills must be freshly made before administration.)
Mix half a bowl of juice from fresh Chinese yam (*Dioscorea opposita* Rhizome, Shanyao) with half a bowl of sugarcane juice. Simmer until slightly warm and take orally; coughing stops immediately.
Case of a patient suffering for over thirty years:
Dry shaded cypress leaves (Bai Bai Ye), seven red dates. Decoct into a strong tea substitute and sip frequently. Avoid greasy, fishy, fried, and roasted foods. Additionally, steam four liang of lily bulb (Baihe) with four qian of rock sugar; take morning and evening without interruption. Mild cases resolve in ten days, severe cases in half a month.
Four liang each of pork back fat (Zhubanyou), glutinous rice candy (Nuomitang), and honey. Boil together into an ointment/paste. Frequently take one spoonful and let it dissolve slowly in the mouth.
Crack walnuts, crush the kernels with skins intact, add a little rock sugar, pour boiling water, steam, and take in several doses.
Decoct genuine dried persimmons (Shibing) in water and drink. Or cook tofu with cypress leaves (Bai Bai Ye) and eat.
Chew three walnuts and three slices of ginger thoroughly, then swallow with boiled water.
Make a dough using buckwheat flour and egg white; rub onto the chest. Alternatively, mix fine tea leaves with brown sugar, stir-fry until dry, cool completely, and consume.
Another prescription: Dissolve refined white sugar in boiling water, add one drop of sesame oil, and drink every night. Or, take two liang of white honey (slightly warmed) mixed with one liang of *Fritillaria cirrhosa* Bulb (Chuanbeimu, 川贝母).
Apricot seeds (remove skin, tips, and oil), mix with boiling water, extract the juice, simmer hot, and take orally (avoid fried foods). Or, decoct two qian of *Artemisia annua* Herba (Qinghao, 青蒿) in urine from a prepubescent boy (Tongbian, 童便); extremely...
