The Huangdi Jinzhen Method (Golden Needle Method of the Yellow Emperor) is most wondrous; the depth and length of needle insertion depend on the patient's body type (fat or thin) at the time.
Simply use the transverse creases on the hand as a reference, measure by Cun (Chinese inch), and carefully apply this method.
If the body and chest are short, or if they are long,
seeking acupoints by observing creases has its rationale; medical practitioners must thoroughly deduce and examine this principle.
Determining acupoints and performing needling requires careful recognition; the slender and small versus the fat and large are not the same group.
For fat individuals, needle insertion should be three-and-a-half Fen (one-tenth of a Cun); for thin bodies, two Fen should be used.
Those who are neither fat nor thin are different; for such persons, aim for the middle.
Select within the range of two to three Fen; using this method ensures no error and achieves success.
Avoid needling during extreme hunger or fullness; also tolerate (avoid needling in) strong winds and heavy rain.
Hunger injures Ying Qi (Nutritive Qi), while fullness injures the Fu organs; additionally, one must avoid the locations of the Ren Shen (Human Deity).
The exquisite method of needling is rare in the world; many medical practitioners do not know it.
Every Cun along the human body contains acupoints, but when opening points, distinguish between sinews and bones without doubt.
Where there are sinews and bones, insert the needle from the side; where there are no sinews or bones, penetrate through.
When treating disease with needling, one must be meticulous and clearly understand the timing of ascending and descending, closing and opening.
Evil pathogens entering the Five Meridians pass day by day; malevolent influences invading the Six Pulses overturn the foundation like waves.
Vigorously falling like birds from the sky, quietly focusing the mind to spontaneously initiate the mechanism.
Before tonifying True Yang, ensure the Nine Qi are sufficient; subsequently, drain residual evil pathogens nine times using the Xu (exhaling) method.
Acupoints measured by Tong Shen Cun (Same-Body Inch) are taken from this song; the swift method is clear and direct, avoiding confusion.
Baihui (DU20) is located at the center of the vertex where the Three Yang meridians meet; Wuhui (EX-HN17/Tianman) shares the same name.
Take Qian Ding (DU21) five Fen above the anterior fontanelle region; various diseases can be dispelled, including the management of Wind Stroke.
After moxibustion, if fire heat rushes to the eyes, pricking blood around the periphery allows for free circulation.
Yuan-source points like Jingquan require seeking the original needle points; needling is inferior to moxibustion which has its own efficacy.
Qian Ding (DU21) is five Cun anterior to the hairline, belonging to the anterior aspect of the Three Yang meridians; Zhen Quan once stated it was about one Cun.
Pricking blood with a triangular needle cures head wind; applying salt and oil to the root causes the disease to heal naturally.
Xinhui (DU22) is five Fen deep anterior to Qian Ding; children under eight years old should not be needled here.
If the anterior fontanelle has not closed, how can moxibustion be applied? These two points must be kept in mind.
Shangxing (DU23) appears one Cun anterior to Shenting (DU24); Shenting is sought at the anterior hairline.
For various wind disorders, moxibustion on Shenting is most excellent; Shenting and Shangxing are suitable for moxibustion but not for needling.
Yintang (EX-HN3) gathers between the two eyebrows; Suliao (DU25) is at the tip of the nasal column in the center of the face.
In areas with arterial pulsation, fire (moxibustion) is strictly prohibited; manipulating this point may cause snoring and nasal soreness.
Shuigou (DU26), known as Renzhong, is below the nose; Duiduan (CV15) is the palace of the upper lip when the mouth is open.
Yinjiao (CV24) is taken at the midpoint between the gum margins; Chengjiang (CV24) follows the path inside the lower lip.
Moxa cones of half size suspended over Chengjiang should be used; if too large, the Yangming pulse will not flourish.
Lianquan (CV23) is fixed above the Adam's apple, also named Sheben or Chonglou.
Remember the Tong Shen Cun (Same-Body Inch) swift method; your fame will spread throughout the Nine Provinces in the future.
