The Yin Wei Mai originates from the intersection of all Yin meridians. Its pulse emerges at Zhubin (KI9), the Xi-Cleft point of the Yin Wei Mai, located five cun above the medial malleolus within the muscle belly of the medial head of the gastrocnemius. It ascends along the medial aspect of the thigh, enters the lower abdomen, and meets the Foot-Taiyin Spleen Meridian, Foot-Jueyin Liver Meridian, Foot-Shaoyin Kidney Meridian, and Foot-Yangming Stomach Meridian at Fushhe (SP15). (Fushhe is located three cun below Fujie (SP14), four and a half cun lateral to the anterior midline.) Ascending further, it meets the Foot-Taiyin Spleen Meridian at Daheng (SP15) and Fu'ai (SP16). (Daheng is located three and a half cun below Fu'ai; Fu'ai is located one and a half cun below Riyue (GB24); both are four and a half cun lateral to the anterior midline.) Following the costal region, it meets the Foot-Jueyin Liver Meridian at Qimen (LR14). (Qimen is located one and a half cun directly below the nipple.) Ascending to the chest and diaphragm, it flanks the pharynx and meets the Ren Mai (Conception Vessel) at Tiantu (CV22) and Lianquan (CV23), terminating at the anterior vertex. (Tiantu is located in the depression four and a half cun below the laryngeal prominence; Lianquan is located at the center two cun above the laryngeal prominence.) There are fourteen acupoints in total.
The Yang Wei Mai originates from the convergence of all Yang meridians. Its pulse emerges at Jinmen (BL63), located one and a half cun below the lateral malleolus. Ascending seven cun above the lateral malleolus, it meets the Foot-Shaoyang Gallbladder Meridian at Yangjiao (GB35), which serves as the Xi-Cleft point of the Yang Wei Mai. (Yangjiao is located seven cun above the lateral malleolus, obliquely connecting between the two Yang meridians.) It follows the lateral aspect of the knee, ascends to Biyan (GB29), reaches the lateral side of the lower abdomen, and meets the Foot-Shaoyang Gallbladder Meridian at Juliao (GB29). (Juliao is located eight cun below Zhangmen (LR13), in the depression on the upper margin of the iliac bone.) Following the costal region, it ascends obliquely to above the elbow, meeting the Hand-Yangming Large Intestine Meridian, Hand-Taiyang Small Intestine Meridian, and Foot-Taiyang Bladder Meridian at Binao (LI14). (Binao is located seven cun above the elbow tip, in the depression between the two tendons, one cun below Jianliao (TE14/SJ14 - note: text says Jianxia, likely referring to Jianyu or similar, but standard Binao is LI14. The text description "Jianxia" usually refers to Jianliao TE14 or Jianyu LI15 depending on context, but Binao is LI14. The text says "Jianxia 1 cun", likely meaning below Jianyu LI15 or Jianliao. Given "Binao" is the name, we stick to Binao). Passing anterior to the shoulder, it meets the Hand-Shaoyang Sanjiao Meridian at Jianliao (TE14) and Tianchuang (SI16). (Jianliao is located in the depression three cun anterior to the shoulder tip; Tianchuang is in the supraclavicular fossa, at the superior border of the clavicle, in the central depression.) Subsequently, it meets the Hand-Shaoyang Sanjiao Meridian, Foot-Shaoyang Gallbladder Meridian, and Foot-Yangming Stomach Meridian at Jianjing (GB21). (Jianjing is located in the depression on the shoulder, one and a half cun anterior to the greater scapular spine, above the supraclavicular fossa.) Entering posterior to the shoulder, it meets the Hand-Taiyang Small Intestine Meridian and Yang Qiao Mai at Bingfeng (SI12). (Bingfeng is located in the depression below the scapular spine, at the upper medial margin of the scapula.) Ascending along the post-auricular region, it meets the Hand-Shaoyang and Foot-Shaoyang meridians at Fengchi (GB20). (Fengchi is located in the depression between the sternocleidomastoid and trapezius muscles, at the level of the hairline behind the ear.) Ascending to Naokong (GB18) (one and a half cun posterior to Chengling (GV19), in the depression below the occipital bone), Chengling (GV19) (one and a half cun posterior to Zhengying (GB17)), Zhengying (GB17) (one cun posterior to Mucuang (GB16)), Mucuang (GB16) (one cun posterior to Linqi (GB15)), and Linqi (GB15) (located directly above the pupil, five fen into the hairline, in the depression). Descending to the mandible, it meets the Hand-Shaoyang, Foot-Shaoyang, and Foot-Yangming meridians, totaling five meridians, at Yangbai (GB14). (Yangbai is located one cun above the eyebrow, directly opposite the pupil.) Following the head, entering the ear, and ascending to Benshen (GB13), it terminates. (Benshen is located in the hairline directly above the ear.) There are thirty-two acupoints in total.
