五月五日，收带根益母草紫花者，晒干烧灰，以商陆根捣自然汁，加好醋和搜灰作饼，炭火
过收之，半年方可入面擦之。能润肌去滞。苏颂曰∶唐天后炼益母草泽面，五月五日，采
益母根苗具者，勿令着土晒干，捣烂以面水和成丸，如鸡子大，再晒干，仍作一炉，四旁开
窍，上下置火，安药中央，大火烧一炊久，即去大火，留小火养之，勿令火绝，经一伏时出
之，瓷器中研极细无声，收用，如澡豆法，日用一方寸，每灰十两，加水飞滑石一两，胭脂
一两，研匀用之，一月之后，面如美玉。

上为细末，蒸过，入冰麝再研，以鸡子清调匀，洗面后涂之。旬日，肤若凝脂。

为末，米饮服方寸匕，日三服。欲白，倍加冬瓜仁。欲红，倍加桃花。服三十日，面白如玉
，五十日后，手足皆白。一方∶用陈皮，去白杨皮，此宫中尝服之剂。
王瓜根捣汁，浆水和匀，入冰片少许，入夜洗面涂药，百日后，肌肤柔嫩，痱 全除。
玉容散 治妇女面无光彩，颜色白而不润泽。

农历五月初五，采集带根且开紫花的益母草，晒干后烧成灰，用商陆根捣取自然汁液，加入优质醋调和并揉搓药灰制成饼状，用炭火煅烧后收藏，需经过半年时间方可用于面部擦拭。能够滋润肌肤、去除瘀滞。苏颂说：唐代武则天曾炼制益母草美容面膏。方法是五月初五，采集带有根和苗的益母草，注意不要让泥土沾染，晒干后捣烂，用面粉和水调和成丸剂，大小如鸡蛋，再次晒干，仍放入炉中，四周开设孔窍，上下放置火源，将药物置于中央，先用大火燃烧一顿饭的时间，然后撤去大火，留小火温养，不要让火熄灭，经过一个“伏时”（约两小时）后取出，在瓷器中研磨至极细无声的状态，收藏备用。使用方法如同澡豆，每天使用一方寸大小的量，每十两药灰中加入一两水飞过的滑石粉和一两胭脂，研磨均匀后使用，一个月之后，面色如美玉般光洁。

以上药材共同研成细末，蒸制过后，加入冰片和麝香再次研磨，用鸡蛋清调匀，洗脸后涂抹于面部。十日左右，皮肤便如凝固的油脂般细腻光滑。

研成粉末，用米汤送服，每次服用方寸匕的量，每日三次。想要肤色白皙，加倍增加冬瓜仁的用量；想要肤色红润，加倍增加桃花的用量。服用三十日后，面色白如玉石；五十日后，手足皮肤皆变白。另一配方：使用陈皮，去掉白杨皮，这是宫中曾经服用过的方剂。
王瓜根捣取汁液，与浆水调和均匀，加入少许冰片，夜间洗脸后涂抹药物，百日之后，肌肤柔嫩，痱子完全消除。

On the fifth day of the fifth lunar month, collect Motherwort Herb (Yimucao, Leonurus japonicus) with roots and purple flowers, dry it, and burn it to ash. Crush Phytolaccae Radix (Shanglu, Pokeweed root) to obtain its natural juice, add good vinegar to mix and knead the ash into cakes, calcine over charcoal fire, and store. It can be used for facial rubbing only after half a year. It can moisten the skin and remove stagnation. Su Song said: Empress Wu Zetian of the Tang Dynasty refined Motherwort Herb for facial care. The method is: on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month, harvest Motherwort Herb with both roots and shoots, ensuring no soil contamination. Dry them, crush them, mix with flour and water to form pills the size of chicken eggs, dry them again, place them in a furnace with ventilation holes on all sides, position fire above and below, place the medicine in the center, burn fiercely for the duration of one meal, then reduce to a small fire to maintain heat without extinguishing it. After one "Fu Shi" (approx. two hours), take it out, grind it extremely fine in a porcelain vessel until silent, and store for use. Use it like bath powder, applying an area of one square inch daily. For every ten liang of ash, add one liang of Talcum (Huashi, Talc) processed by water flotation and one liang of Cinnabar (Yanzhi, here referring to red pigment/rouge). Grind evenly and use. After one month, the face will be as lustrous as beautiful jade.

All ingredients are ground into a fine powder, steamed, then mixed with Borneol and Musk and ground again. Blend with egg white, apply to the face after washing. Within ten days, the skin becomes smooth and glossy like congealed fat.

Grind into powder, take with rice drink, one fangcun bi per dose, three times a day. To whiten the complexion, double the amount of Benincasae Semen Exsiccatum. To redden the complexion, double the amount of Persicae Flos. After thirty days of ingestion, the face becomes white as jade; after fifty days, the hands and feet also become white. Another prescription: use Tangerine Peel (Chenpi), removing White Poplar Bark. This was a formula once consumed in the imperial palace.
Akebiae Caulis Radix (Wagua Gen, Wild Melon Root) crushed for juice, mixed evenly with Jiangshui (fermented rice water), add a little Borneolum Syntheticum. Wash face at night and apply medicine. After one hundred days, the skin becomes soft and tender, and prickly heat (Fei, miliaria) is completely eliminated.

All medicines are ground into a fine powder. Before sleep, mix with saliva, rub onto the face overnight. Early next morning, wash off with a cup of boiled wine diluted with hot water, then pat on Yurong Powder.
