五月胎症。胎至是月。若胎妊困弱。能令胎母腹重。贪眠。饮食无味。肚中膨胀。胎有些动
。可服瘦胎饮二三帖。能养聚胎气。而精神安好也。

当归(三钱) 泽泻 白芍 益母草 枳壳 茯苓(各四钱) 砂仁 香附 益智仁(各三钱)

六月胎症。胎至六月。其妇瘦弱。可服瘦胎饮二三帖。护胎母之苦。使临产时。脉调和。且
易生而无忧虑之患。若壮健妇。不必服药。
七月胎形。男向左胁动。女向右胁动。七月已足。亦有降生成人。所以胎母至此。行步艰难
七月胎症。至七八月足。其胎重如石。行走甚艰。脾胃虚弱。或时气急冲心。胸前胀满。咳
嗽。若误食热毒物。能令胎动不安。名曰子悬。俱用知母补胎饮治之。
枳壳、厚朴、香附、砂仁、苍术、陈皮（去白，各二钱）、苏叶（一钱）、甘草（八分）、小茴香（一钱），分为三帖，温服。
怀孕五个月时，胎儿的性别已经确定。让孕妇向前行走，让女孩在后面呼唤她。如果她向左回头，怀的是男孩；向右回头，怀的是女孩。想吃酸味食物预示生男孩，想吃清淡口味预示生女孩。此时胎儿已进入子宫深处，胎气安稳。
怀孕五个月的胎证。到了这个月份，如果孕妇体质困倦虚弱，会导致腹部沉重、嗜睡、饮食无味、腹胀、胎动轻微。可以服用瘦胎饮二三帖，以养护聚集胎气，使精神安好。
（吴氏按语：也有到六七个月发生半产（流产）的，婴儿虽然啼哭但不能存活，都是因为气虚不能系固胎儿，血弱不足以滋养胎儿。应当预先进行调补。如果是因跌打损伤所致，则另当别论。）
当归（三钱）、泽泻、白芍、益母草、枳壳、茯苓（各四钱）、砂仁、香附、益智仁（各三钱）、白术（二钱）、甘草、柴胡（各一钱五分），分为三帖。空腹服用。
怀孕六个月时，男孩在左侧胎动，女孩在右侧胎动。胎动常在肚脐周围，渐渐浮起，像鱼在水中进食一般。
怀孕六个月的胎证。到了六月，如果孕妇身体瘦弱，可以服用瘦胎饮二三帖，以保护孕妇免受痛苦，使临产时脉象调和，且容易生产而没有忧虑之患。如果孕妇身体壮健，不必服药。
怀孕七个月时，男孩向左侧胁部胎动，女孩向右侧胁部胎动。七月胎儿已足月，也有在此时降生成为人的。所以孕妇到了这个时候，行走艰难。
怀孕七个月的胎证。到了七八个月胎儿足月，胎重如石，行走非常困难。如果脾胃虚弱，有时会出现气急冲心、胸前胀满、咳嗽等症状。如果误食热毒食物，会导致胎动不安，名为子悬（妊娠胸腹胀满）。均用知母补胎饮治疗。
Zhiqiao (Fructus Aurantii), Houpo (Cortex Magnoliae Officinalis), Xiangfu (Rhizoma Cyperi Rotundi), Sharen (Fructus Amomi), Cangzhu (Rhizoma Atractylodis Lanceae), Chenpi (Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae, peeled, each 2 qian), Suye (Folium Perillae), Gancao (Radix Glycyrrhizae, 0.8 fen), Xiaohui (Fructus Foeniculi, 1 qian). Divide into three doses, take warm.
At five months of pregnancy, the sex of the fetus is determined. Instruct the pregnant woman to walk forward while a girl calls out from behind. If she turns her head to the left, it is a male; if to the right, it is a female. Craving sour food indicates a male fetus; craving bland food indicates a female fetus. At this stage, the fetus has entered the uterine cavity, and the fetal qi is stable and secure.
Pregnancy symptoms at five months. By this month, if the mother's constitution is weak and fatigued, it may cause abdominal heaviness, somnolence, loss of taste, abdominal distension, and slight fetal movement. One may take two or three doses of Shoutai Yin (Slimming Fetus Decoction) to nourish and gather fetal qi, ensuring mental well-being.
(Wu's commentary: There are cases of spontaneous abortion (half-production) occurring in the sixth or seventh month where the infant cries but does not survive. This is due to Qi deficiency failing to anchor the fetus and Blood deficiency failing to nourish it. Preventive regulation and tonification should be undertaken. If caused by trauma, the treatment differs.)
Danggui (Radix Angelicae Sinensis, 3 qian), Zexie (Rhizoma Alismatis), Baishao (Radix Paeoniae Rubra), Yimucao (Herba Leonuri), Zhiqiao (Fructus Aurantii), Fuling (Sclerotium Poriae Cocos, each 4 qian), Sharen (Fructus Amomi), Xiangfu (Rhizoma Cyperi Rotundi), Yizhiren (Fructus Alpiniae Oxyphyllae, each 3 qian), Baizhu (Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae, 2 qian), Gancao (Radix Glycyrrhizae), Chaihu (Radix Bupleuri, each 1.5 qian). Divide into three doses. Take on an empty stomach.
At six months of pregnancy, males move on the left side, females on the right. The movement is often centered around the umbilicus, gradually becoming palpable like fish feeding in water.
Pregnancy symptoms at six months. By the sixth month, if the woman is emaciated or weak, she may take two or three doses of Shoutai Yin (Slimming Fetus Decoction) to protect the mother from distress, ensuring harmonious pulse conditions at delivery, facilitating easy birth without worry. If the woman is robust, medication is unnecessary.
At seven months of pregnancy, males move towards the left hypochondrium, females towards the right hypochondrium. By the seventh month, the fetus is full-term, and some are born at this time. Consequently, the pregnant woman finds walking difficult.
Pregnancy symptoms at seven months. By the seventh or eighth month, the fetus is full-term and heavy as stone, making walking very arduous. If the Spleen and Stomach are weak, one may experience sudden shortness of breath rushing to the heart, chest fullness, and coughing. If hot-toxic foods are mistakenly consumed, it can cause restless fetal movement, known as Zixuan (Hanging Fetus syndrome characterized by chest/abdominal distension). All such cases are treated with Zhimu Butai Yin (Anemarrhenae Fetal-Nourishing Decoction).
