Chuanxiong (2 qian), Danggui (5 qian), Jiangtan (Charred Ginger Rhizome, 0.5 fen), Zhigancao (Honey-fried Licorice Root, 0.5 fen), Taoren (Peach Kernel, 10 grains). If injured by food, add Shenqu (Medicated Leaven) and Maiya (Folium Hordei Germinatum, stir-fried, 1 qian each); if injured by meat, add Shanzha (Fructus Crataegi) and Sharen (Fructus Amomi, 0.5 fen each); if pain is caused by consuming cold substances, add Wuzhuyu (Fructus Evodiae) and Rougui (Cortex Cinnamomi, 0.5 fen each); if deficiency is severe, add Renshen (Radix Ginseng, 1-2 qian).
Once the pain from blood stasis masses has ceased, take the following prescription to eliminate food stagnation.
Chuanxiong and Shenqu (1 qian each), Danggui and Renshen (2 qian each), Zhigancao and Maiya (0.5 fen each), Baizhu (Atractodis Rhizoma, 1.5 qian). If injured by meat, add Shanzha and Sharen; if injured by cold substances, add Wuzhuyu and Rougui. If cold food has been retained for a long time, leading to Spleen and Stomach weakness, where it is feared that medicines cannot be effectively metabolized, one may use stir-fried Shenqu ground into powder. While hot, wrap it in a silk cloth and massage the chest and abdomen; if it cools, apply heat with an iron.
If food stagnation was mistakenly treated with digestive-promoting drugs, resulting in the inability to consume porridge for several days, or if miscellaneous diseases were mistakenly treated with draining/depleting drugs, leading to loss of appetite, all such cases can be rescued with Changsheng Huoming Dan (Long Life and Vitality Pill). (For the detailed formula of Changsheng Huoming Dan, see *Mi Yao*.)
In postpartum cases where anger causes Qi rebellion, discomfort in the chest and diaphragm, and recurrence of pain from blood stasis masses, it is appropriate to use Shenghua Tang (Life-Birth Decoction) removing Taoren. When administering, grind Muxiang (Aucklandiae Radix, 0.2 fen) into the medicine. This will naturally resolve the blood stasis masses and dissipate the anger, treating both conditions without conflict. If one neglects the postpartum state while focusing on regulating Qi, and overuses Xiangfu (Cyperi Rhizoma), Wuyao (Linderae Radix), Zhiqiao (Aurantii Fructus Immaturus), Muxiang, and Sharen to move Qi and disperse masses, Yuanqi (Primary Qi) will instead be damaged, and distension and fullness will increase. This is not a skillful method for treating postpartum conditions. Furthermore, if one eats immediately after anger, causing weak Stomach function and stagnation/fullness, one must examine what food was consumed, and add one or two herbs to Shenghua Tang corresponding to the specific injury. There will be no case that cannot be cured. One must strictly avoid using Ke Xiao Xiao Ji Wan (Drastic Digestion-Resolving Pill) or other Qi-draining prescriptions to move Qi and digest food; otherwise, for weak postpartum women, this will severely damage Yuanqi, with consequences too numerous to mention.
