Treats pregnant women suffering from Shanghan (Cold Damage).

Grind the above into a powder. Take 3 qian per dose. Add one zhong zhan of water, 3 slices of ginger, and 1 jujube. Decoct until three-tenths remains. Take warm. If headache and fever are felt, taking two or three doses will lead to recovery. However, for those with cold limbs and Yin syndrome, it should not be taken. This prescription was originally sold by an official in Changzhou; physicians bought it by the jin, and practitioners used it with miraculous results. No one else possessed this formula. Since I obtained it, I have treated diseases without exception with efficacy. It also calms the fetus and benefits both mother and child.

Discussion: In the transition between the four seasons, sudden abnormal climate conditions occur. For example, spring should be warm but turns cold; summer should be hot but turns cool; autumn should be cool but turns hot; winter should be cold but turns warm. This is having the qi of one season while possessing the climate of another. When such abnormal qi arrives, no one escapes injury. Although ages differ, the symptoms are similar, mostly due to pathogenic factors affecting the exterior. It is said that this qi spreads universally at that time, hence called "Shiqi" (Seasonal Epidemic Qi). If pregnant women encounter severe cases, it may injure the fetus.
Treats pregnancy complicated by Shiqi disease, where after five or six days there is still no sweating, accompanied by dry mouth, excessive desire to drink cold water, delirious speech, and vomiting/nausea.
