1. Guanchong (Jing-Well Point)
Location: On the lateral side of the ring finger, approximately at the width of a leek leaf from the corner of the nail.
Indications: Dry mouth. Headache. Tongue curling and throat bi-syndrome. Huoluan (cholera-like syndrome with vomiting and diarrhea). Qi obstruction in the chest with inability to eat. Pain in the elbow and arm with inability to lift. Eyelid films (pterygium or corneal opacity). Blurred vision.
Acupuncture and Moxibustion: Insert needle 1 fen. Retain for three breaths. Apply 3 moxa cones.
Note: Guanchong is the Jing-Well point where the Hand-Shaoyang Sanjiao Meridian originates. Waiguan (TE5) and Neiguan (PC6) are connected by a collateral vessel crossing horizontally. The Jing-Well point of the Pericardium Meridian is Zhongchong (PC9), and the Jing-Well point of the Heart organ is Shaochong (HT9). This point lies between Shaochong and Zhongchong, hence named Guanchong (Gate Pass).
2. Yemen (Ying-Spring Point)
Location: In the depression between the little finger and the ring finger, at the web margin.
Indications: Palpitations with fright and delirious speech. Cold reversal with arm pain; inability to move arms up and down freely. Malaria with alternating chills and fever. Headache. Vertigo, redness and dryness of eyes with tearing. Sudden deafness. Swelling of the outer throat. Gingival pain.
Acupuncture and Moxibustion: Insert needle 2 fen. Apply 3 moxa cones. Make a fist to locate the point.
Note: Yemen is the Ying-Spring point of the Sanjiao Meridian. The Ying-Spring points of Yang meridians correspond to Water. Sanjiao is the official responsible for irrigation, and water passages originate from it. The essence of water is called "Ye" (fluids). Yang Qi receives its influence from the four extremities, thus this water point is named Yemen (Fluid Gate).
3. Zhongzhu (Shu-Stream Point)
Location: In the depression distal to the metacarpophalangeal joints of the ring and little fingers, one cun posterior to Yemen.
Indications: Febrile diseases without sweating. Pain in the arm and fingers with inability to flex or extend. Headache. Vertigo, eyelid films, blurred vision. Deafness and swollen throat. Chronic malaria. Redness and swelling of the arm.
Acupuncture and Moxibustion: Insert needle 3 fen. Apply 3 moxa cones. Make a fist to locate the point.
Note: Zhongzhu is the Shu-Stream point where the Qi of the Sanjiao Meridian pours into. Just as there are islets in a river, and this point resides in the middle, it is named Zhongzhu (Middle Islet).
4. Yangchi (Yuan-Source Point)
Location: In the depression at the transverse crease on the dorsal aspect of the wrist.

Tracing straight from the base of the ring finger to the central depression of the wrist, which resembles a pool, it is named Yangchi (Yang Pool). When needling, do not shake the hand; supinate the forearm so that the palm faces upward to make the point distinct.
5. Zhigou (Jing-River Point)

Note: Zhigou is the Jing-River point where the Qi of the Sanjiao Meridian flows. One cun anterior to this point, the collateral of Waiguan enters the Hand-Jueyin Pericardium Meridian. The water pathways of Sanjiao flow here, forming a branch-like channel, hence the name Zhigou (Branch Ditch).
6. Tianjing (He-Sea Point)
Location: In the depression superior to the lateral epicondyle of the humerus.
Indications: Cough with rebellious Qi. Chest fullness with inability to speak. Expectoration of pus with anorexia. Chills and shivering with inability to lie down. Fright, palpitations, and sadness. Convulsions, epilepsy, and the five types of mania. Wind-bi causing pain in the head, neck, shoulder, and back. Deafness, pain at the outer canthus, cheek, and swollen painful elbow. The point is located in the depression between two tendons/bones, one cun posterior to the lateral epicondyle of the elbow. Five cun anterior to the elbow is a point named Sidu (Four Ditches). While ditches flow downstream, Tianjing stands alone at the top. It is akin to useful water generated by Heavenly One, stored in a well, to prepare for the functions of generation and transformation. Hence, it is named Tianjing (Heavenly Well). To locate the point, first flex the elbow. Mark the point one cun posterior to the lateral epicondyle. Ask the patient to cross their hands over their knees, then insert the needle.
