It does not disturb the zang-fu organs nor damage the True Qi. Whether deficiency or excess, it can be used. Bai Fan (Alumen) resolves phlegm and detoxifies. Yin Zhu (Cinnabar) is refined from mercury and can break up accumulations; thus, it treats Jie Xiong (Chest Binding). It is also miraculously effective for hoarseness caused by phlegm-fire.
Ginger Ironing Method (Jiang Yi Fa, Ginger Ironing Method)
For those with Shang Han (Shang Han, Cold Damage) experiencing chest and diaphragmatic oppression, all types of cold binding, heat binding, water binding, food stagnation, pi syndrome (Pi Syndrome, Epigastric Fullness), blood binding, phlegm binding, and branch binding, as well as large and small Jie Xiong (Chest Binding) and Pi Qi (Pi Qi, Stagnant Qi) binding,
all use fresh ginger mashed into a paste. Remove the juice. Take the residue, stir-fry until hot, wrap in silk, and gradually rub and iron the chest, heart, and hypochondrium. The fullness and pain will suddenly resolve and heal itself. If the ginger residue cools, add more ginger juice, stir-fry again, and iron again. For heat binding, do not stir-fry.
