Take 3 fen of Yudan (Jade Pill), mix with half a spoonful of Baicaoshuang (soot from burning hundred herbs), and grind finely in a mortar. Then add 1 li of Dengcaohui (ash of rush pith); the mixture should turn grayish like tile color. Add 3 spoonfuls of Gancao powder (Licorice Root Powder) and 2 fen of Bohe powder (Mint Leaf Powder), grinding them to an extremely fine consistency. Finally, add 0.5 fen of Bingpian (Borneol; *Borneolum Syntheticum*)—adding more is better—and grind uniformly. Store in a small porcelain jar with a tightly sealed stopper to prevent gas escape. This medicine must be prepared temporarily for immediate use; it becomes ineffective after five or six days, and even within one day if used during rainy or humid weather.
In spring and summer, when mint usage is high and Yudan usage is low, the resulting medicine appears green. In autumn and winter, when Yudan usage is high and mint usage is low, the resulting medicine appears white. This is a crucial secret. In my original copy of this text, it was recorded that a small amount of Pengsha (Borax; *Borax*) should also be added.
To promote expectoration, add a small amount of Yaogua (Tamarind Seed Pod; *Gleditsiae Sinensis Fructus Spina*), preferably with Bohe (Mint Leaf) and Longnao (Dragon Brain/Borneol). Choose varieties with thin stems and small leaves; those with thick stems and large leaves are unsuitable.
Take 1 qian 8 fen of Qiangxiao (Saltpeter refined by gunpowder method; *Natrii Sulfas* or *Kali Nitrum* depending on context, here likely purified Niter/Saltpeter), mix with 2 fen of Sheng Puhuang (Raw Pollen Typhae), sift through silk cloth to obtain fine powder, removing coarse brown impurities, and grind together finely. Then add 1 fen of Jiangcan (Silkworm; *Bombyx Batryticatus*) and 1.5 fen of Yaogua (Tamarind Seed Pod; *Gleditsiae Sinensis Fructus Spina*), grinding together until pale yellow. Add 1 fen of Bingpian (Borneol; *Borneolum Syntheticum*) and grind uniformly. This medicine can be stored for a long time, but Bingpian (Borneol; *Borneolum Syntheticum*) should be added just before use. This medicine specifically treats swelling reduction and expectoration, as well as tooth-biting, penetrating-tooth carbuncle toxicity, etc. For treating throat diseases, it is used in conjunction with Bidan (Green Pill), with dosage adjustments based on symptoms. For severe cases, add Niuhuang (Calculus Bovis; *Bovis Calculus*) to the base formula. For severe throat conditions and madness, add Jiangcan (Silkworm; *Bombyx Batryticatus*) and Yaogua (Tamarind Seed Pod; *Gleditsiae Sinensis Fructus Spina*). For mild cases, only use Yaxiao (Niter/Saltpeter; *Natrii Sulfas* or *Kali Nitrum*) and Puhuang (Pollen Typhae; *Typhae Pollen*). Since Bidan (Green Pill) eliminates phlegm, clears heat, detoxifies, and dispels wind, it is a good remedy, though relatively mild. It is not as potent as Jindan (Golden Pill) in reducing swelling and toxicity, clearing wind-heat, opening throat obstruction, and expelling saliva, which is most divine and essential. However, at the initial stage of throat diseases, Jindan (Golden Pill) should not be used excessively because its action penetrates deeply inward and spreads rapidly. If used excessively at the onset, mild cases may not withstand the medicinal force, leading to incompatibility. The mouth ulcer medicine promotes tissue regeneration. Take 3 fen of Bohe (Mint Leaf), mix with 1.5 fen of Haiercha (Child's Tea/Catechu; *Catechu*), 1 li of Zhi Bai (Processed Phellodendron Bark; *Phellodendri Cortex Praeparata*), 2 li of Bailonggu (White Dragon Bone; *Os Draconis* or *Fossilia Osseum*), and 1.5 li of Baizhi (Angelica Dahurica Root; *Angelicae Dahuricae Radix* - select firm, white, fine pieces for powder). If there is pain and swelling, use 3-4 li. Mix with 0.5 fen of Sheng Gancao (Raw Licorice Root; *Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma*), 0.5 fen of Zhenzhu (Pearl; *Margarita*), grind into powder, add 3 fen of Bingpian (Borneol; *Borneolum Syntheticum*), and grind uniformly. Store in a porcelain bottle. Apply by insufflation for oral ulcers and various types of mouth sores. At the initial stage, if pain and swelling are prominent with high fever, increase the amount of Bohe (Mint Leaf) for its acrid-cooling dispersing properties. If there is no swelling, fever is mild, and the disease has persisted for a long time, focus on tissue regeneration; use more Haiercha (Child's Tea/Catechu; *Catechu*), Zhenzhu (Pearl; *Margarita*), and Bailonggu (White Dragon Bone; *Os Draconis* or *Fossilia Osseum*) in the formula, resulting in a purple color. This is also used for all throat conditions involving ulceration to promote healing. To treat Zouma Gan (Running Horse Gangrene), Chuan Ya Du (Penetrating Tooth Toxicity), severe mouth sores, and neonatal fetal toxin mouth sores, add Niuhuang (Calculus Bovis; *Bovis Calculus*) and double the amount of Zhenzhu (Pearl; *Margarita*) to the base formula; efficacy is invariably achieved. However, cases presenting with foul odor, putrefaction, and black discoloration are untreatable.
For mouth sores following sand-pox (smallpox/chickenpox variants), remove Huangbai (Phellodendron Bark; *Phellodendri Cortex*) and Bailonggu (White Dragon Bone; *Os Draconis* or *Fossilia Osseum*), add Niuhuang (Calculus Bovis; *Bovis Calculus*), and double the amount of Zhenzhu (Pearl; *Margarita*). Even in extremely adverse and fierce cases, immediate efficacy is observed. Other conditions respond similarly with miraculous results. This is the secret recipe for treating mouth sores.
