The *Zimu Milu* (Secret Records of Mother and Child) provides a prescription for treating infant "urine ash sores" (a type of pustular skin lesion).
Grind the above-mentioned ingredient, Longgu (Fulonggan, 伏龙肝 - calcined soil from the center of a cooking stove), into fine powder, mix with the white of an egg (Jizi Bai, 鸡子白), and apply to the affected area.
Another prescription from the *Zimu Milu*:
Chew thoroughly the熟 (cooked/ripe) skin of black beans (Heidou Pi, 黑豆皮) and apply it as a poultice.
Chen Cangqi provides a prescription for treating infant "vinegar sores" (Acid Sores, Zuo Chuang, 酢疮 - likely referring to impetigo or similar erosive lesions).
Take grass from the tomb of a woman who died in childbirth; do not look back while collecting it. Use this grass to prepare a decoction for bathing. Three baths are sufficient for a cure.
Another prescription by Chen Cangqi:
Prepare a bath using Xianren Cao (Immortal Grass, 仙人草). It can also be crushed and applied topically. The sores may vary in size and hardness. Smaller sores may heal spontaneously without medication. However, if Dan Du (Erysipelas/Dan toxicity, 丹毒) invades the abdomen, the condition becomes critical. Preventively, administer cold-natured medicines. Washing the sores with this herb also benefits vision and removes corneal opacities (Fu Yi, 肤翳); the juice can be dripped into the eyes. This herb grows between courtyard steps, is two to three cun tall, has slender leaves with serrated edges resembling goose teeth, looks similar to Ligecao (Ligegrass, 离隔草), and does not grow in northern regions.
The *Shenghui Fang* (Prescriptions of Holy Grace) states: Infant "fish navel sores" (Yu Qi Chuang, 鱼脐疮) are characterized by a black head. When deeply ulcerated, yellow fluid exudes, and foamy pus rises around the margins. The shape is narrow and long, resembling a fish's navel, hence the name.
A prescription from the *Shenghui Fang* for treating infant fish navel sores:
She Tu Pi (Snake Slough, Shed Snake Skin, She Tui, 蛇蜕皮) (1 liang, roasted until slightly yellow), Ji Zi (Chicken Egg, 鸡蛋) (1 unit, broken to extract the clear albumen/Jizi Qing, 鸡子清).
Decoct the snake slough in one large cup of water until reduced to one-fifth of the volume. Strain out the dregs, add the chicken egg white, stir well, and boil for three rolling boils. Allow to cool to a warm temperature. Administer orally in divided doses according to the child's age and size.
Another prescription from the *Shenghui Fang*:
Yuan Hua Gen (Radix Daphnes Genkwa, 芫花根) (2 liang, finely chopped), Zhu Ya Zao Jiao (Gleditsia Sinensis Fruit, Pig-tooth Soap Pod, 猪牙皂角) (5 pods), Hei Dou (Black Soybean, 黑豆) (3 he), Bai Fan (Alumen, Alum, 白矾) (3 liang, calcined until the liquid evaporates, then finely ground).
Soak Yuan Hua Gen, Zao Jiao, and Hei Dou in seven sheng of vinegar in a pot for three days. Decoct over gentle heat until reduced to two sheng. Strain the dregs, then transfer the liquid to another vessel and further reduce to one sheng. Add Bai Fan ash, stir uniformly, and form into a paste. Store in a porcelain box and spread onto old cloth for topical application.
Another prescription from the *Shenghui Fang*:
Use lard and bone marrow from pigs slaughtered in the twelfth lunar month. Mix uniformly with chicken egg white and apply.
Another prescription from the *Shenghui Fang*:
Burn dried Yi Tang (Maltose/Syrup, 干饧) from the Cold Food Festival to ash, grind finely, and apply.
Another prescription from the *Shenghui Fang*:
Crush white Wo Ju (Lactuca Sativa, Lettuce, 白莴苣) and squeeze out the juice. First, prick the sore and its surrounding areas with a needle, then drip the juice into the wound for healing.
Another prescription from the *Shenghui Fang*:
Slice garlic and apply slices firmly over the sore. Perform moxibustion (Ai Jiu, 艾灸) for fourteen moxa cones (two sets of seven). Replace the garlic slice with each cone. After moxibustion, apply a thick compress of Dou Chi (Fermented Soybeans, 豆豉) for definitive efficacy.
Zhang Huan's Ji Qing San (Chicken Clear Powder): Treats body sores oozing yellow fluid with foamy margins, narrow and long like a fish navel.
Burn one liang of She Tu Pi (Snake Slough, 蛇蜕皮) to ash and grind finely. Take a small amount, mix with Ji Zi Qing (Chicken Egg White, 鸡子清), and apply to the sore.
