之遗气,若非巧凭按治之方,终也积为沉 ;其中或少乳、多哺咀嚼之食,肠胃转转干惨。儿少者俗号腑干;

Hanlin Daizhao Yang Daye asked: "Why does a child gradually become sallow, emaciated, weak, with skin lacking luster?" The answer is: This is due to deficiency and damage of fetal qi, and weakness of tendons and vessels. The root cause lies in forced sexual intercourse at conception, or pregnancy occurring by chance. Or the mother had pre-existing diseases, with a cold uterus and cold blood sea, leading to deficient qi and blood, emaciation, causing the fetus to be injured within the womb from the start. Upon birth and upbringing, the child naturally appears haggard. This stems from the inherited qi of the parents. Without effective treatment methods, it will eventually accumulate into chronic illness. Among these, if there is less breastfeeding and more consumption of chewed food, the intestines and stomach will gradually become dry and harsh. In infancy, this is commonly called 'Fu Gan' (Visceral Dryness); when grown up, it is called 'Bone Steaming'. This is originally a disease causing infant mortality. I, being unversed in ancient wisdom and unable to fully comprehend sage understanding, was unaware that such discussions have existed since ancient times.

Tang Dynasty Zhongshu Shilang Cui Zhit Ti's Moxibustion Method for 22 Types of Bone Steaming:
All living beings receive Qi from the Five Elements. Improper health management leads to six diseases. Referencing Qi Bo and Huang Di's records, there are established classics. Combining attack and moxibustion highlights this technique. Bone steaming is also called Chuan Shi (Transmitting Corpse), Gui Zhu (Ghost Note), Fu Lian (Repeated Connection), or Wu Gu (Innocent). Men root in Pi Qi (accumulated mass), women root in Blood and Qi. Regardless of age, many contract this disease; infants suffer more from transmission. Symptoms include dry, erect hair, clustered or scattered nodules, abdominal masses, or small knots on both sides of the back of the head, up to five or six. Night sweats, dreams of ghost intercourse, clear vision but weak limbs, upward Qi rebellion, poor appetite, gradual decline into severe emaciation. Even if prolonged, it ends in exhaustion. I once served as Sima of Luozhou, saving 13 people in 30 days through moxibustion, with over 200 cured previously. Tales of狸骨 (Fox Bone) and 獭肝 (Otter Liver) are heard, but Gold Teeth and Copper Noses rarely show efficacy. This method is superior for critical rescue. It treats not just bone steaming, but also Qi disorders, Wind, Miasma, Consumption, Evil, and Pi masses. The conditions are broad, and those saved by moxibustion cannot be fully recorded. Briefly stating the outline, fearing transmission errors misleading future generations, I provide diagrams for clarity. Let it circulate widely. With home secrets, no need to seek famous doctors or expensive drugs. Reviving the dead is easy. Should not those with disease strive for this?
Acupoint Location Method: First two points. Have patient stand upright. Take a thin string (waxed to prevent stretching/shrinking). Place flat against sole (Male Left, Female Right). Front end aligns with big toe tip. Back end aligns with center of heel. Pull string backward along calf紧贴 skin, straight up to the popliteal crease (QuKT - likely referring to Weizhong BL40 area). Cut string. Have patient untie hair, parting sides to see midline. From Fontanelle (Xinmen), divide equally to back of head. Sit upright. Take one end of cut string, align with nose tip. Pull string up along midline to back of head, hang down紧贴 skin along spine to end of string. Mark spine with ink at string end (Mark is NOT moxa site). Take another string. Have patient close mouth, place string across mouth. Ends reach corners of mouth. Hook center of string up to base of nasal bridge forming a triangle shape. Cut at corners of mouth. Straighten this string. Measure horizontally from previous spine mark. Keep level. (Fold string in middle, mark center. Unfold and measure horizontally. Center mark presses exactly on spine mark. Ends level). Mark ends with white circles (White circle IS moxa site). These are the first two points.
Second two points. Patient sits upright, arms slightly tucked. String around neck hanging forward to Jiuwei (CV15) level. Jiuwei is xiphoid process. If absent, measure 1 cun below xiphisternal junction. Cut double. Flip string back behind neck. Center aligns with heart. Ends hang down neck,紧贴 spine. Mark spine with ink (Mark is NOT moxa site). Take another string. Patient closes mouth, measures across corners of mouth. Cut. Measure horizontally on spine mark again. Mark ends with white circles (White circle IS moxa site). These are the second two points. Total four points. Moxa simultaneously. 7-14 moxa cones per session. Accumulate to 100-150 cones. When sores heal, follow next method for two more points.
Next two points. Use the mouth-measuring string from the second step. At the end marks of the double string from the second step on the spine, draw a vertical line up and down. Center of string on mark. Mark ends with white circles (White circle IS moxa site). These are the third two points, called Si Hua (Four Flowers). Moxa 100 cones per point. Total six points. Measure distance from sun. Apply fire immediately after measurement. Best date is March 3rd. After cure, avoid heavy diet and sex for 100 days. Rest quietly. If not cured after one month, re-moxa original points. These six points are called Liu Hua (Six Flowers).

There are 22 types of bone steaming symptoms to distinguish and treat with the above moxibustion:
1. Bladder Steaming (Dark yellow urine)
2. Jade Chamber Steaming (Nocturnal emission/incontinence in men, irregular menstruation in women)
3. Brain Steaming (Dizziness, heat, stuffiness)
4. Marrow Steaming (Feeling marrow boiling heat)
5. Bone Steaming (Black teeth)
6. Tendon Steaming (Hot nails)
7. Blood Steaming (Red hair)
8. Pulse Steaming (Irregular pulse)
9. Liver Steaming (Blurred vision)
10. Heart Steaming (Dry/scaly tongue or ulcers, chest fullness)
11. Spleen Steaming (Dry/hot lips or mouth ulcers)

20. Flesh Steaming (Others feel heat, patient feels cold)
21. Skin Steaming (Skin/muscle looks like chicken skin)
22. Qi Steaming (Generalized high fever, restlessness)
Measurement Method: Acupoint sizes depend on body size. Male Left, Female Right. Measure one segment of finger center, between two transverse creases = 1 cun.
Moxa Cone Size: Cones must be 3 fen thick. If thinner, coverage is insufficient, meridian Qi won't flow, failing to expel evil and attract righteous Qi. Even for children, use middle finger for measurement.
Moxa Material: On Dragon Boat Festival (Duanwu), before sunrise, find mugwort resembling human form. Moxa is highly effective. A book mentioned finding human-like mugwort is doubtful; it's merely imaginative. Most methods are false.
Fire Method: Huang Di said: Do not use wood from Pine, Cypress, Persimmon, Mulberry, Date, Elm, Willow, Bamboo for moxa fire; it harms muscles and blood. Use flint or crystal mirror to catch sunlight. On cloudy days, use Locust wood.
After moxibustion, take Diligence Rehmannia Pill (Zhi Lao Dihuang Wan).
Dihuang Wan Formula:
Fresh Rehmanniae Radix Juice (Sheng Dihuang Zhi), Artemisiae Annuae Herba Juice (Qinghao Zhi), Menthae Haplocalycis Herba Juice (Bohe Zhi), Boy's Urine, Good Wine (Each 2 sheng, decoct into paste). Bupleuri Radix (Chaihu, de-stolon), Testudinis et Chelonis Carapax et Plastrum (Biejia, vinegar-fried), Gastrodiae Rhizoma (Qinjiao) - each 1 liang, Cinnabar (Zhusha), Moschus (Shexiang) - each 0.5 liang, ground. Pound five ingredients into powder. Mix with paste to make paulownia seed-sized pills. Take 15-20 pills with warm wine. Strictly avoid cold/raw foods.
