Shuidou (Chickenpox) resembles Zhengdou (Smallpox). External signs include red face and lips, eyes bright like water, coughing and sneezing, thick and sticky nasal discharge and saliva. Fever lasts two to three days before eruption. The rash is clear and clean like water blisters, shaped like small beans, with thin skin. Scabs form with a central depression and fewer surrounding halos. It is easy to erupt and heal. Over-warming makes scabs difficult to fall off, leading to ulcerated sores. Strictly avoid ginger, pepper, and spicy foods, as well as bathing in cold water; violating these rules leads to Jiangjie Shuizhong (Ginger-Mustard Edema). Throughout the course, Xiaomai Tang (Wheat Decoction) is the standard treatment.

Subsequently, it spreads to the neck and nape, becoming red like cinnabar, named Ludan (Dew Erysipelas), treated with Sanjie San (Three-Release Powder) to disperse it.
