(Especially excellent for treating Wuse Dan / Five-Color Dan.)
The *Qianjin Fang* states: Whenever eggs are used in formulas, use those that have broken first; others lack potency. It also states: Among all things in the world, algae are the coldest. For conditions involving heat swelling, toxic Dan, etc., take channel algae, chop finely, cook, pound thoroughly, and apply to the Dan lesion to a thickness of about three fen; replace when dry. I believe this method should not be used for external application. If the pathogen is on the surface, it can still be managed; if suppressed forcibly, the pathogen cannot vent outward and will inevitably enter the interior. One must first administer formulas to support the interior and expel toxins before applying this method.
