Wen Zhuang (Warm Febrile Condition) and Zhuang Re (High Febrile Condition) are similar but have slight differences. Continuous high fever without abatement is Zhuang Re; whereas a mild, low-grade warmth that is not intense is Wen Zhuang. If the stool is foul-smelling and yellow, this indicates latent heat (Fu Re, hidden pathogenic heat) in the abdomen, which should be treated with Sishun Yinzi (Four Compliance Decoction). If the stool is white and sour-smelling, it indicates indigestion of retained food, and Zishuang Wan (Purple Frost Pill) should be administered. For mild cases, take a small dose; for severe cases, restrict milk feeding, increase the dosage of the pill, and aim for a mild laxative effect.
Chailing Tang (Bupleurum and Poria Decoction) treats Wen Zhuang in children and the fluctuating nature of latent heat.
Chai Hu (Bupleuri Radix, 3 qian 1/2), Maidong (Ophiopogonis Radix, heart removed), Renshen (Ginseng Radix, radix removed), Chifuling (Red Poria), Gancao (Licorice Root, each 2 qian 1/2), Huangqin (Scutellariae Radix, 5 qian).

Some fevers arise from fright, while some fright arises from fever. Qian Shi’s Daochi San (Guide Out Redness Powder), Liangjing Wan (Cooling Fright Pill), Anshen San (Calm Spirit Powder), and similar formulas are treatments for this condition.
Tianzhuhuang San (Hyriana Cum Scuta Powder) treats pediatric wind-heat due to fright.

It can be taken for anxiety and restlessness due to fright and heat. If urine is blocked, use Maidong Dengxin Tang (Ophiopogon and Juncus Decoction). For heat due to fright, add a little Cinnabar and take at any time. Another prescription includes one liang of Chifuling. The *Su Shen Fang* uses Huashi (Talcum) instead of Shigao.
