The *Shenghui Fang* states: When a child's internal organs have heat, the heat steams and scorches the skin. If externally invaded by dampness, sores will arise. If the heat is particularly prevalent, the onset of the sores will be vigorous; initially appearing like hemp seeds, they quickly enlarge, with pus and ulceration resembling burns from boiling water or fire, hence named "Wang Lanchuang" (King's Ulcer).
To treat Wang Lanchuang in children, where the entire body is covered with hemp-seed-like sores containing pus, alternating pain and itching, or accompanied by high fever:
Chi Shao Yao (Radix Paeoniae Rubra), Gan Cao (Radix Glycyrrhizae), Bai Lian (Rhizoma Bletillae) (each 3 fen), Huang Qin (Scutellariae Radix), Huang Lian (Coptidis Rhizoma) (remove roots), Huang Bo (Phellodendri Cortex) (lightly roasted, each 0.5 liang).
Grind all into powder. Mix with honey water and apply topically two to three times daily until healed.
To treat Wang Lanchuang and malignant sores in children:
Shu Mi (Sorghum Vulgare Grain), Zhu Xiao (Bamboo Shoots).
Burn these to ash, grind finely. Mix with mud-water from beneath field crops and apply topically for immediate effect.
To treat Wang Lanchuang in children: On the first day, skin color changes; on the second day, blisters appear; or the periphery becomes red and gradually enlarges. If blisters cover the whole body, it is incurable, resembling burns from boiling water or fire. One should promptly use Huang Lian San (Coptidis Powder):
Huang Lian Mo (Coptidis Rhizoma Powder), Hu Fen (Cerussa/Lead Carbonate) (each 1 liang).
Grind uniformly. Mix with raw oil and apply topically.
For Wang Lanchuang in children starting with blistering similar to burns: Use this method. Additionally, soak Tao Ren (Persicae Semen) in hot water, remove the skin, grind finely, and mix with animal fat (Mian Zhi) for topical application. Alternatively, burn Ai Ye (Artemisiae Argyi Folium) to ash and apply; when dry, reapply raw oil. Alternatively, apply powder from soil at crossroads or from under cooking stoves. Alternatively, apply ash from burned cow dung. Alternatively, decoct Wu Zhu Yu (Evodiae Fructus) in wine and apply the juice. Alternatively, mix Su (Butyrum) with Chi Di Mo (Red Earth Powder) for application.
To treat sores arising on the child's body, initially small but later producing pus, spreading incessantly and enlarging, known as Jin Yin Chuang (Oozing Sore). If it starts from the limbs and spreads toward the head and face, it is difficult to treat:
Ji Yu (Cyprinus Carpio Fish) (one fish, 3 cun long), Dou Chi (Fermented Soybean).
Pound into a paste and apply topically. This also treats Saddle Sores.
Another formula: Ku Hu (Lagenariae Fruit), She Tui (Bombyx Batryticatus/Molting Skin of Snake) (half liang, burned), Lu Feng Fang (Vespa Nidus) (half liang, lightly roasted), Liang Shang Chen (Dust from Roof Beams).
Grind into powder, mix with oil, and apply topically.
Another formula: Fu Long Gan (Dragon's House Liver/Baked Clay) (3 fen), Luan Fa (Human Hair) (3 fen, burned).
Grind into powder, mix with Pig Fat (Zhu Zhi) and apply.
Another method: Apply Ji Guan Xue (Rooster Comb Blood). Mix Ji Guan Xue with Huang Lian Mo (Coptidis Rhizoma Powder) and apply. Decoct Ji Yu paste for application. Slice fresh Ji Yu (Cyprinus Carpio Fish), mix with salt, and apply to the affected area. Burn Hu Yan Ke (Swallow Nest), mix with water, and apply.
