All were cured by me. Subsequently, I fell critically ill myself. In a dream, I saw a middle-aged woman with light makeup holding a box containing a red pill. She placed the pill into my mouth and left. I then woke up in a profuse sweat, still smelling the medicinal fragrance in my mouth, and the illness subsided. Later, due to overexertion too early, I suddenly fainted. My younger sister, only seventeen years old, wept and prayed to Heaven, wishing to cut flesh from her thigh to save me, but I had already regained consciousness. The sister, terrified by the incident, subsequently vomited blood. Reflecting on this to this day, I feel ashamed and unable to repay her kindness. From then on, I began wearing cotton wadding in winter. In the Renyin year, while suffering from an illness, during periods of intense heat, I dreamed that both the sun and moon hung in the sky, with ribbons hanging down. I grasped the two ribbons with my hands and shook them; the sun and moon moved accordingly. I then woke up startled, sweating, and recovered. In the Bingwu year, amidst extreme heat and heavy social engagements, I first developed summer sores covering my forehead, followed by dysentery, and then malaria. During feverish episodes, I often dreamed of riding the wind. When told I would recover, I imagined soaring through the clouds to the highest heavens, then suddenly falling into an abyss for a bath, waking up with sweat pouring out like a gushing spring. In the Dingwei year, I remarried. In the summer of the Jiyu year, Shen Yueting, a Xiucai (scholar) from Qiantang, invited me to examine Chen, another Xiucai, who was suffering from an epidemic disease in a critical condition. Initially unaware that he also suffered from syphilis (plague sore), I was somewhat careless, inhaled the foul toxin, and fell ill immediately upon returning home. Although I recovered after taking medicine prescribed by the late filial son Mr. Zhang Yangzhi, I dreamed at that time that my body transformed into a different creature, covered in scales, swimming in a deep abyss, and rising on clouds. I awakened just as rain sounded like a torrent, sweating as if drenched by rain, while it actually rained continuously for several days, causing disasters in Jiangsu and Zhejiang. This was indeed a marvel. From then on, I began wearing silk garments. In the Yimao year, I took my family back to our ancestral home. In the late autumn of the Bingchen year, I fell ill in my residence in the provincial capital. On the night of October 6th, I dreamed that Mount Fahuahua had prepared official hats, robes, carriages, and attendants to welcome me to my post. Joyfully, I donned my hat and belt and departed. Passing through Qiantang Gate and Zhaoqing Temple, I saw hundreds of men, women, and children holding incense to block my way. I stopped the carriage. Soon, the Lord of Mount Dongyue transmitted orders to send me back, so I returned to my residence. Upon reaching the gate, I stumbled and woke up. This dream was even more peculiar; ultimately, I do not know what happened later. Alas, I have been spared many times. I append this here to preserve the record of these dreams.
