[Qumai]

When combined with Puhuang (Pollen Typhae), it treats postpartum strangury.

Taken as a concentrated decoction, it expels a dead fetus in the womb.
Only the flower calyx and corolla are used; stems and leaves should not be used. If used together, they cause Qi obstruction and urinary incontinence. Soak in Zhu Li (Bamboo Sap), filter, and sun-dry for use. Contraindicated in cases of Deficiency-Cold of the Small Intestine.
[Tinglizi]
Also known as Jinzhen Yintai (Golden Cup Silver Platform).
Sweet and bitter in taste, neutral in nature. Enters the blood aspect of the Hand-Shaoyin Heart Meridian and Foot-Jueyin Liver Meridian. Unblocks blood vessels, treats various types of strangury, promotes lactation, induces labor, treats sores and ulcers, dispels Wind-Bi. (When Blood and Qi do not circulate smoothly, Wind-Toxin cannot be expelled; when Ying and Wei Qi reverse into the muscle layers, abscesses are generated.)
When paired with Chuanbai (Phellodendri Cortex), steamed into pills the size of quinces, coated with Qingdai (Indigo Naturalis), hung in a ventilated place on threads, and taken one pill dissolved in cold water, it treats swallowed iron, stones, bones, or thorns that cannot pass. [Tinglizi] (Continued/Clarified based on context)
Acrid, bitter, and extremely cold in nature. Enters the Qi aspect of the Hand-Taiyin Lung Meridian and Foot-Taiyang Bladder Meridian. Greatly drains Qi closure in the Yang aspect, and descends to drain retained Heat in the Bladder. Treats panting and distress caused by Phlegm-Fluid in the chest diaphragm. For urgent Water-Qi in the Lungs, nothing else can clear it but this herb. (Water accumulation results from Qi-Heat; only this herb can clear it.) When paired with Dazao (Jujube), it treats Lung congestion without damaging the Stomach. When paired with Fangji (Stephaniae Tetrandrae Radix), it treats acute edema of the Yang type.
Wash clean with wine, sun-dry, stir-fry with glutinous rice on paper, remove the rice, and grind for use. Contraindicated in deficient individuals. (Because it drains True Qi.) Zhang Zhongjing stated: Applying Tinglizi to head sores allows the medicinal Qi to enter the brain and cause death.
