To treat brain wind-heat toxicity and ocular nebulae (cataracts/opacities). It calms the Heart and brightens the eyes. The formula consists of 2 jin of raw sesame oil, 5 liang of an old iron plowshare, 1 liang each of Shuihushi (Calcitum) and Cengqing (Azurite), all crushed. 5 qian each of Xiaoshi (Niter) and Mayaxiao (Saltpeter) are wrapped in cotton and soaked in the oil for seven days. Each time, apply 1 qian to the vertex of the head and instill a few drops into the nose; this is very effective. (*Da Shi Guo Hu Shang Fang*)
Take one burnt matchhead from the kitchen at home. Trim the charred part flat and place it facing upwards. Write with cinnabar: "Fire-poking stick, fire-poking stick, Lord Wulei of Heaven dispatches you as a divine general. Capture the ghost of night crying, kill it and do not release, execute immediately according to law." After writing, do not let others know. Place it before the child's bed at the feet, on the left for boys and on the right for girls. (*Goulou Shenshu*)
For cold extremities, loss of consciousness, or tight pain in the lower abdomen, cold sweats, and shortness of breath. Stir-fry salt and moxa-moxibustion-like heat application (Wenfu) to the Qihai point (CV6, Sea of Qi) below the umbilicus to warm it. (*Bencao Leifang*)
For Jue-ni (reversal cold), cyanotic lips, retracted testicles, and six pulses nearly imperceptible. Take a bundle of Allium fistulosum (Congbai, Scallion), remove both ends, leaving about 2 cun of the white stem. Heat it and pile it on the umbilicus. Apply heat using a hot iron (moxa-like heating). Replace the scallion when it spoils. After a long while, if warm qi penetrates and the hands and feet become slightly warm, and sweating occurs, the patient will recover. If the hands and feet remain cold after heating, it is difficult to treat. (*Tongshou*)
For penile ulceration or rotting of one or two cun, efficacy can be achieved. Burn Dahezi (Terminalia chebula fruit) to ash, add a small amount of Shexiang (Musk), wash with rice water first, then apply the powder. Alternatively, wash with a decoction of Jingjie (Schizonepeta), Huangbai (Phellodendron bark), Gancao (Licorice root), Mabiancao (Verbena officinalis), and Congbai (Scallion white). (*Yijian Zhi*)
