Obtain turtle urine and rub it on the chest and back; after a long time, the condition will heal. The method to obtain turtle urine is: place the turtle in a clay basin, shine a mirror on it, and it will urinate; quickly collect it with a vessel. Alternatively, prick its nose with a pig bristle to induce urination.
"Guixiong" (Turtle Chest) refers to a condition where lung heat causes distension and the sternum protrudes. Treatment involves using Sangbaipi (Mori Cortex, 桑白皮) half qian, Digupi (Dugongpi/Cortex Lycii Radicis, 地骨皮) one qian, combined with Baihu Tang (White Tiger Decoction): Sheng Shigao (Gypsum Fibrosum, 生石膏) four qian, Zhimu (Anemarrhenae Rhizoma, 知母) half qian, Nuomi (Oryzae Sativa Semen Glutinatum, 糯米) a small pinch, Gancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, 甘草) five fen. Administer for several doses. Sometimes, Liuwei Wan (Six-Ingredient Pill with Rehmannia, 六味丸) added with Guilu Erxian Gao (Two Immortals Paste of Turtle and Deer, 龟鹿二仙膏) shows efficacy. If panting occurs, it is difficult to treat.
"Gubei" (Turtle Back) is incurable due to congenital insufficiency. One can only take Liuhuang Diwan Tang (Decoction of Six Ingredients with Rehmannia, 六味地黄汤) added with Rougui (Cinnamomi Cortex, 肉桂) and Fupian (Prepared Aconiti Lateralis Radix, 附片), as well as Shiquan Dabu Tang (Ten Substance Great Tonifying Decoction, 十全大补汤) added with Luzhong (Cervus Nippon Cornu, 鹿茸) and Guiban (Testudinis Carapax et Plastrum, 龟版), processed into pills. Wait for qi and blood to grow and nourish, then use external treatment methods; perhaps two or three percent recovery is possible.
[Liuwei Dihuang Tang]
Shudi (Rehmanniae Radix Praeparata, 熟地) (4 qian), Shanyao (Dioscoreae Rhizoma, 山药), Fuling (Poria, 茯苓) (2 qian each), Shanzhuyu (Corni Fructus, 山茱), Danpi (Moutan Cortex, 丹皮), Zexie (Alismatis Rhizoma, 泽泻).
Add Rougui (Cinnamomi Cortex, 肉桂) and Fupian (Prepared Aconiti Lateralis Radix, 附片) one qian each, named Bawei Dihuang Tang (Eight-Ingredient Rehmannia Decoction, 八味地黄汤).
[Shiquan Dabu Tang]
Renshen (Ginseng Radix, 人参), Baizhu (Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma, 白术) (soil-fried), Shudi (Rehmanniae Radix Praeparata, 熟地), Danggui (Angelicae Sinensis Radix, 当归) (2 qian each), Fuling (Poria, 茯苓), Jiushaoyao (Paeoniae Radix Alba, 酒芍), Chuanxiong (Chuanxiong Rhizoma, 川芎), Zhigancao (Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma Preparata, 炙草) (1 qian each), Zhi Huangqi (Astragali Radix Preparata, 炙黄) (3 qian), Rougui (Cinnamomi Cortex, 肉桂) (de-barked, 8 fen).
Increase proportions equally, can be made into pills with refined honey.
Symptom treatment details are described in "Internal Medicine".
[Yan Qi Method]: Treats heat in the middle and lower jiao causing constipation of both stool and urine. Take seven green onions with roots (unwashed), one large piece of fresh ginger, and three qian of Danshidou (Fermented Soybean, 淡豆豉). Pound them together into a paste, form into a cake, heat in a pot, apply to the umbilicus, and bind tightly with cloth. After a while, qi circulation resumes, and bowel and bladder functions normalize.
[Mi Dao Method]: Treats obstruction of both stool and urine. Use eight liang of winter honey, refine until it forms beads that do not scatter when dropped in water. Add two qian of fine powder from Zaojiao (Gleditsiae Fructus, 皂角), mix evenly. When slightly cool, roll into a strip the size of a little finger. Coat the outside with onion juice, and gently insert into the anus (gudu). Once qi circulates, stool passes and urine flows freely.
Another prescription: Take one pig gallbladder, cover with a small bamboo tube, dip in onion juice, and insert 7-8 fen into the anus. Squeeze the bile into the body by hand; passage occurs after a while.
For critical cases of urinary and fecal retention lasting two to three days: Burn Zaojiao (Gleditsiae Fructus, 皂角) to ash, grind into powder, mix with rice soup, and administer two qian orally; passage occurs immediately.
Another prescription: Apply onion juice to a small bamboo tube, insert into the anus. Mix five qian of finely ground Mangxiao (Natrii Sulfas, 芒硝), half cup of sesame oil, and a little Zaojiao powder. [Note: Original text says "let person hold in mouth and灌 into gudu", likely a textual error for rectal administration], and within a short time, passage occurs.
