Da Chuanwu (Radix Aconiti Kusnezoffii) and Tian Nanxing (Rhizoma Arisaematis) in equal parts.
Grind the above into a fine powder. Take half a qian each time, with one large cup of water, one white plum, and five slices of fresh ginger. Decoct until only one-fifth remains, then take the decoction. Long-term use can cure the root cause.
Shiwei Rushen Wan (Ten-Efficacious Divine Pill), which treats lateral and frontal headaches, descends phlegm-fluids, disperses stagnant qi, and expands the chest and diaphragm. Long-term use clears the head and eyes, and strengthens the waist and knees.
Calcined Mingfan (Alumen), Tianmendong (Radix Asparagi) with the heart removed, Wuweizi (Fructus Schisandrae Chinensis) (each 0.5 liang), Banxia (Rhizoma Pinelliae Ternatae) (49 grains, soaked seven times in boiling water), Nanxing (Rhizoma Arisaematis) (one large piece), Baizhu (Rhizoma Atractylodis Macrocephalae), and Renshen (Radix Ginseng) (each 1 fen).
Grind the above into powder. Mix with natural juice of fresh ginger, add Feiluo mian (fine sifted wheat flour), boil into a paste, and form pills the size of paulownia seeds. Coat with Zhusha (Cinnabaris) amounting to 1 fen. Take 10 to 15 pills each time after meals.
Using wind-dispelling medicines may slightly alleviate symptoms but fails to eradicate the disease. He Yongzhi once visited and said that his grandmother had suffered from headache due to wind for several years after fleeing war turmoil. A Daoist priest prescribed this formula, which proved effective, and thus the prescription was passed down. After taking it, he recovered completely. Wang Taiwei's mother also contracted this illness due to fright from wind and waves. Those who suffer from headache due to fright are suitable for this medicine. Wang authored the "Zhenjiu Jing" (Classic of Acupuncture and Moxibustion), which has been published. This is his preface.
For the above condition, grind Lu Jiao Jian (Hornium Cervi) thickly with Wuhui jiu (unadulterated wine) in a clay bowl and apply externally. Simultaneously take Heji Jufang's Zhi Shenzang Feng Huang Wan (Pill for Treating Kidney Wind Yellow) to achieve a cure.
Zeng Jingren from Linchuan once suffered bitterly from this disease. One day, he obtained this prescription from an extraordinary person in the capital and was cured in less than three doses. Zhao Taishu took it personally and found the efficacy poor; one must assess deficiency and excess.
Lingxiaohua (Flos Campsis) and Shanzhizi (Fructus Gardeniae Jasminoidis) in equal parts.
Grind the above into a fine powder. Take two qian each time, mixed with tea after meals. Take twice daily.
Another prescription: Use Nafan Meishi (Galla Chinensis from Southern India) that has holes. Grind it with water into a paste and apply with fingers; it is very effective!
As well as for freckles on the face and other conditions.
Huangdan (Minium), Bingyao (Medicated Dough) (50 wen sheng, stored in a large jar), Sha (Sand/Mineral powder) (30 wen, ground extremely fine), Badou (Semen Crotonis Tiglii) (10 kernels, remove shell and membrane, wrap in paper, press to remove oil).
Place all ingredients together in the medicated dough jar. Simmer over low heat for three or two boils, then remove. Add 3 qian of finely ground raw Kuanghui (Mineral Ash). For Jiubi (Rhinophyma), sweep the medicine onto the red area with a goose feather once a day. Draw out toxic substances; stop when the condition improves. For freckles, use a small bamboo stick to pick up the medicine and dot the affected area. Wash off immediately upon feeling slight swelling; if not washed off, the potency may be too strong. This was transmitted by Zhao Junyou, Fugan. When Erqing Zhao Zaizhi was Prefect of Huzhou, he was close to a poet monk who suffered from this disease. Red warts grew on the nose tip, some as large as oranges, others like plums, hanging below the mouth, hindering eating and speaking. The monk detested them greatly. A minor soldier in the commandery, serving a barber, heard of his skill in removing moles but did not know he could treat rhinophyma. One day, he volunteered to treat the monk's disease by applying the medicine. For over half a month, foul matter resembling pus and blood was discharged from the skin in large quantities daily. The warts eventually formed scabs and fell off, leaving the nose and face smooth and clear. Ten thousand coins were given as thanks. He told Erqing Zhao Zaizhi to request the direct library to obtain the prescription and transmit it to Xiuzhou, verifying its good efficacy in treating people.
