[Jiang Gongmo's Collected Fragrant Soup]
For Zhi Chun's nephew.
Mu Bie (Strychnos nux-vomica) and Chuan Xiong (Ligusticum chuanxiong) are used in equal amounts, while Xiong Huang (Realgar) is halved. They are formed into pills using refined honey (Feng Mi), sized like soap pods. The process lasts from one night until dawn, refining over the gentle and strong fires of an incense burner.

Xuan Hu Suo (Corydalis Rhizome), Chi Shao Yao (Red Peony Root), Ding Fen (Lead Carbonate), She Chuang Zi (Cnidium Fruit).
The above herbs are ground into a fine powder. For each portion, use one jin (approx. 500g) of oil and one jin of wax, taking one da qian (approx. 3-4g) of the herb powder. First, melt one jin of oil with one-third of the wax, grind them together, stir in the herb powder evenly, pour this mixture three to two times. Add one fen (approx. 1/10th unit) of wax, pour again three to two times. Finally, add the remaining wax; layer by layer, it will solidify firmly. The wick core must use new cloth; do not let it boil excessively, or it will become opaque. This candle can be made very large, possessing three excellences: first, it saves wax; second, it is extremely bright; third, it is more durable than pure beeswax. [Text fragment: Han Xin (holding the core), Xi (washing)...]
Qing You (Clear Oil) one jin, good soap pods (Fei Zao Jiao) ten pieces. First, moisten the soap pods, roast them, and crush them. Soak them in a small amount of hot water to extract thick juice, continuing until the soap pods lose their bitterness. Strain the dregs through silk gauze; the juice should resemble paste. First, pour the oil into a pan and note the quantity. Then add the soap pod juice and stir evenly. Slowly... fill with water. When cooled to extreme solidity, remove it. Its fragrance and color surpass real wax. The soap pod juice is invisible, leaving only a little fine sediment at the bottom. If making candles, follow the ordinary method of holding the core. In summer, pouring a thin layer on top is especially good.
[Jing Tang Formula]
Formula of Wei Yunfan.
Su Mi (Millet, ten sheng), Sheng Jiang (Fresh Ginger, ten liang), Gan Cao (Licorice Root, four liang), Cao Guo Zi (Black Cardamom, two liang, peeled and cleaned).
First, wash the millet thoroughly. Grind it together with fresh ginger. Cover and let stand overnight. Form into cakes, dry by baking. Then grind together with licorice root and black cardamom into a fine powder.
If adding Bai Zhu (Atractylodes Macrocephala Rhizome) two liang, it is excellent. Take two or three qian per dose, add a little salt, and brew with boiling water. Take at any time.
Suo Sha (Amomum Villosum, five liang with skin, use after peeling), Gan Cao (Licorice Root, three liang), Hu Jiao (Pepper), Tan Xiang (Sandalwood, half liang each), Qing Yan (Green Salt, four liang).
First stir-fry the salt and licorice root, then add the remaining herbs. Stir-fry until fragrant and cooked, then grind into a fine powder. Take as usual for brewing/drinking. If green salt is unavailable, sea salt may be used. This is the formula of Judge Wang Zhizhi, named Zi... This formula is very wonderful.
