Another prescription for Luan Jiao San (Phoenix Marrow Powder).
Take one yellow dog's head, remove the hair, seal it firmly with mud mixed with paper fibers, roast it in fire until the smoke ceases, take it out, let it cool, remove the mud, and grind into powder. First, steam glutinous rice into a soft paste, spread it on paper according to the size of the lesion, about one finger thick. Mix one part of dog head powder, two parts of cinnamon powder, and three parts of oyster shell powder evenly, sprinkle this mixture onto the paste. While still slightly warm, wrap and apply it to the injured area. Then, secure it with a *Suo Luo* (Famatinia) wood board splint. If itching occurs, do not scratch; instead, gently pat with hands. It will heal in five to seven days. This formula is excellent for dispersing blood stasis. Alternatively, wrapping with a felt cushion pad is also effective!
Boil fresh ginger juice, rice vinegar, and oxhide gelatin together. Dissolve an appropriate amount of *Mapibo* (Smilax glabra rhizome) powder into the mixture, stirring until uniform like a plaster. Apply this using paper flowers over the swollen area; pain stops immediately, and frequent application yields better results. Two clerks in Shaoxing Hall achieved efficacy using this method.
Grind copper powder and take with wine.
The *Yi Jian Zhi* (Records of Strange Encounters) states that Shi Shijun from Chang'an possessed a miraculous formula for fractures and injuries:
Angelica sinensis root (washed, dried, and ground to fine powder), Lead carbonate (each half tael), Borax (two qian).
Grind these ingredients together until very fine. Take one large spoonful mixed with concentrated decoction of *Su Fang* (Sappanwood). If the injury is above the waist, eat half a bowl of plain noodle soup first, then take the medicine; if below the waist, take the medicine first, then eat, and sip frequently. Prepare *Su Fang* decoction separately as glutinous rice porridge, mix with the medicinal powder, spread on paper or silk, and bandage the wound. Like Lou Du, who expelled several sheng of dark blood and recovered safely.
The formula of Lu Zhubo from Mingzhou:
Raw sulfur (two liang, powdered), Official cinnamon bark (two liang, powdered), Fresh ginger (about four liang), Wheat flour (one he).
Mix and grind these ingredients together while moist. Apply directly to the injured site; it generates intense heat like fire. Secure externally with cloth. Change once daily, applying day and night. Healing occurs in six to seven days. Sulfur and cinnamon can disperse cold and yang; ginger and flour harmonize meridians and invigorate blood.
The nephew of Xun stated: "My third brother, while in Siming, suffered an injury in the snow, dislocating his wrist joint. Applying this external dressing stopped the pain immediately, and the joint returned to normal."
Monkey ginger (*Husun Jiang*, likely *Zingiber officinale* variety or similar local herb) (appropriate amount), Fresh ginger (half the amount of Monkey ginger).
Pound these ingredients thoroughly and apply to the injury. Wrap with thin cloth; replace when dry. Although it may not yield rapid results, it is ultimately effective.
