Treats *Shanghan* causing vomiting and hiccups, belching, and obstruction of Qi in the chest and diaphragm. Acupoint: Wenliu (LI7). [Moxibustion at the area below the axillary hair, in the depression along the ribs, 50 moxa cones.]
Treats *Shanghan* causing vomiting and hiccups. If Qi rises from the abdomen, strikes the throat, and rebellious Qi continues without stopping or makes dozens of sounds up and down without being able to breathe, this is due to cold damaging the stomach cavity, with Kidney Qi being deficient first. The rebellious Qi ascends to the Stomach and contends with healthy Qi. If it does not stop, it is difficult to treat, called "Yue" (hiccups/choking).
Acupoints: Moxibustion on Zhongwan (CV12) and Guanyuan (CV4), 100 cones each. If it does not stop, moxibustion on Shenshu (BL23), 100 cones. Use Zhuyu Wan (Cornel Pill). This refers to herbal treatment. "Yue" is commonly known as ke ni (hiccups).
For acupuncture and moxibustion treatment, one should seek the cause based on this.
(Attached Discussion)
The discussion on moxibustion and needling methods for treating malaria states: Taiyang malaria causes lower back pain and heavy head. Cold starts from the back. First chills then fever; when the fever subsides, sweat comes out and is difficult to stop.
Needle Weizhong (BL40) to bleed. Shaoyang malaria causes the body to feel flaccid and weak. Chills are not severe, fever is not severe; there is aversion to people, feeling fearful upon seeing them. Fever is prominent with much sweat. Needle the Shaoyang channel. Yangming malaria causes initial chills, shivering with severe cold, followed by fever after a long time; when the fever leaves, sweat comes out. The patient prefers sunlight and fire, feeling comfortable. Needle the Yangming channel on the dorsum of the foot. Taiyin malaria causes unhappiness, frequent sighing, loss of appetite, alternating chills and fever, and sweating. When the disease arrives, vomiting occurs; after vomiting, the condition improves.
Then select acupoints. Shaoyin malaria causes severe vomiting, prolonged alternating chills and fever, with more fever than chills. The patient desires to stay behind closed doors; this type of disease is difficult to cure. Jueyin malaria causes lower back pain, abdominal fullness, difficulty urinating resembling strangury but not strangury, frequent urination, mental fear, Qi deficiency, and a depressed feeling in the abdomen. Needle the Jueyin channel.

Wang Shi says: All malaria arises from wind. Summer injury by summer-heat leads to autumn [missing text] malaria (*Suwen* states: [missing character] is synonymous with 'old' and also means thin. Yang Shangshan states: Malaria occurring every two days is called [missing text] malaria; this theory differs from *Suwen* and *Qianjin*). There are many names for malaria. Chills first then fever is called cold malaria. Fever first then chills is called warm malaria. Fever without chills is called dan malaria. Much chills is called zhuang malaria. Persistent non-healing is called lao malaria. Unceasing for a long time is called old malaria. Malaria changing after epidemic disease is called zhang malaria. Pathogen knotting into a mass is called nuomu (malaria mother). Even Liver, Lung, Spleen, Kidney, Heart, and Stomach can have malaria. Some occur daily, some every other day, some gradually later, some gradually earlier. *Suwen*, *Qianjin Fang*, etc., discuss these in detail. There are many formulas for treating malaria, but only Xiao Jin Dan (Little Gold Pill) is best. I have used it on others, all were effective. However, how can everyone have this medicine? This is why moxibustion cannot be abandoned. In rural areas, people use Eclipta prostrata (Hanliancao) crushed, size of a palm (four fingers wide), placed between the two hypochondria, pressed with an ancient copper coin, tied with old cloth. Blisters form quickly, called heavenly moxibustion, which can still cure malaria, let alone regular moxibustion. Therefore, it is recorded in detail.

If starting from waist and spine, moxibustion Shenshu (BL23) 100 cones. If starting from arms, moxibustion Sanjian (LI3). Also moxibustion Shangxing (GV23) and Dazhui (GV14). By the time of attack, ensure 100 cones are applied. Moxa cones should be sized like millet grains. If feeling slightly different, moxibustion Baihui (GV20) three cones. If it recurs, moxibustion seven more cones. For extremely difficult cases, do not exceed three sessions. Have the patient stand with feet flat. Measure around the foot with a thread, fold in half. From Dazhui towards Baihui, moxibustion the thread end 3x7=21 cones. Cone size like a soybean. Also moxibustion Fengchi (GB20) two acupoints, three cones each. Then lie supine with head straight. Place the measured rope on the neck, reverse it onto the back. At the rope end, directly on the spinal bone, moxibustion. Thirty cones stabilize the condition. Check if chills recur; urgently moxibustion thirty cones to stabilize. Wait for one meal-time after the attack passes. Even if hungry, do not feed fully until the day ends. This method is miraculous.
